Everyone knew Garrett was not the guy back when he was the Assistant HC under Wade. Yet they still gave him 10 years along with Rod Marinelli. How many years did Marinelli continue his experiment of trying to coach up talentless guys and make them into linemen? We can thank him for Taco and Hill - yet Hill now under Nolan has improved considerably.

Last year we had Rod and this year we have Nolan - the defense still has a considerable amount of the guys that played here last year and a few free agents who are past their prime. It's the same result this year and the common denominator in all of it is the lack of talent.

Except it's not the same result. It's actually statistically much worse.

And Marinelli wasn't a good DC himself (or Richard for that matter, depending on who you want to blame). So what you have is a new DC doing significantly much worse than two DCs that weren't all that good themselves.

Sounds like a great endorsement of Nolan. LOL.

I can’t say that. Jerry wants to win. He just doesn’t know how. Hell no one does.

But if someone wanted to make the argument that if he really wanted to win he’d stay out of the way of a real GM? I can respect that too.
you think after 25+ years of this he would let get his ego in check and hire a real GM. that's what real GMs do......

He's doing great.

Just to be fair here...
  • the Colts are stacked on defense
  • the Colts have played the easiest schedule so far regarding opponents offenses.
Even given all of that, he is doing way better at his job than Nolan is.

And? None of those guys are in the long term plan for anything - it was to patch the serious deficiencies on this defense. Didn't work but what's to be done? Do nothing? The defense is a testament to what happens when you do nothing.

Leadership matters.

MM and Nolan are a crapstorm of epic proportions.

MM decisions have been pure sewage and Nolan cannot even teach his system.

Eberflus could coach circles around Nolan AND McCarthy. But he is not an option until next season.

Give me Wade Phillips RIGHT NOW over both these nimrods.

I was thinking a telephone pole, but this works better.

The year before he left, the Cowboys rejected him from seeking an job interview with the 49ers.
He rejected an extension after the 2016 13-3 season.
The year he left, Rod was willing to "step aside"/above or something to make him DC. But then you have two chefs in the kitchen and only one stove.
Exactly, we wanted him as DC but he didn’t want to step on Rod’s toes or force him into retirement. This one’s not necessarily ineptitude it’s just unfortunate.

Hahaha, that defense has sucked for the last 2 years and has had severe problems getting any pressure against good teams. The LB corp has been manned by two guys who cannot stay healthy in Sean Lee and LVE. The third seems to have no idea how to play linebacker which is amazing really given that he is in the NFL. Lastly, safety has been an issue for the Dallas Cowboys since Darren Woodson retired - what has this franchise done to fix any of that? Year after year, you go get undrafted free agents and plug the line claiming that Marinelli would "coach them up" and year after year it failed - but you are right, Mike Nolan who showed up here after the last regime was fired is to blame.
If they sucked last year than what’s a worse word than suck? Because this is the worst defense of all time.

Did the Colts just have a shiny new toy in an 88 jersey catch a couple of TDs? Jerruh says mission accomplished.

Indianapolis Colts Defense Rankings:
  • 236.3 yds/game (1st)
  • 14 pts/game (1st)
  • 7 interceptions (1st)
The Colts D has allowed 56 pts total in four games. We allowed 49 pts just yesterday.

This is turning into Sean Payton all over again. He'll probably be a head coach next season.

Good for him. He got out of here and will have a better career. Probably the next Mike Zimmer
