Matt Hasselback vs Weeden

Last night a 40 year old Matt Hasselback led the colts to a victory. The second in four days. Matt spent one day in the hospital for a bacteria infection and was bed ridden for two days on a short week ( thurs night game). There are some who ask " what do you expect from a back up QB?" when discussing Weedens play. Well, i expect this type of performance.

Hasselback may be the best backup in the NFL. The guy has thrown for 35,000 yards and is about as savvy as any player in the league at his position.
Of course you'd like a backup to perform like that.
Oh yeah, he also has Ty Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncreif, and his two TEs.

Weedon hasn't been terrible given what they're asking of him.

But yes, our more recent backups (Orton and Kitna) were more experienced and better

Considering he referenced the backup Qb play, it's very relevant.

But I guess what we want out of a backup QB is to win, regardless of context. Because there is very little separating the starts of Weeden and Hasselbeck.

Hasselback was a Pro-Bowl QB in this league. He led his team to Superbowl (which they got screwed on).

Not a lot of those kinds of guys floating around the league.

Yes, he is better that Weeden. He doesn't play for the Cowboys, however.

You are right. Matt hasselbeck signed a one year contract with the colts this offseason for 2 million w 1 mill signing bonus. He was available, but he is 40

Not to start this all up again, but we're really not losing games because of Brandon Weeden. Hist 91 yard drive in NOLA was pretty impressive in its own right.

HaHa, but to your point.

Weeden has a career QBR of 74.9, 28/29 TD/INT ratio and an average of 6.8 per pass. Those stats do not correlate to wins my friend.
