He will make the team.

Only because we are that thin at safety. And with a Tampa 2, safeties are a big key to being successful.

But for someone who has never played before, they sure are high on this kid. At some point if he can't ever contribute, then he needs to go and maybe catch on somewhere else. We have enough injured people as it is.

Is Johnson eligible for the practice squad? If so, I think he may be there to start the season. Barring further injuries to the safety position, no way Johnson makes the team if he misses the next couple of weeks of practice.

McCray is just a special teams player and not much of a safety. Need to see what Hamilton and Heath look like in a game. I believe both Heath and Hamilton will make the roster before Johnson as things stand right now.

As things stand right now the coaches had Johnson running 2nd team S and with him being out Frampton took his place on the 2nd team. Not to take anything away from Hamilton and Heath they have shown some promise, it's just early on them.

I think the problem most have with him is not being able to stay on the field to practice. How is he ever going to get better and fit into this defense if he is continuously nursing different injuries? Once he is past this one, what is up next for him?

He is still young but this is not a good pattern and I don't know if he can be relied on for a full season.

I'm starting to think Matt Johnson is some sort of wizard or something. By keeping him on the team the Cowboys are doing the universe a solid and keeping cthulu at bay with Matt's presence. The second he's gone everybody dies in a hail of meteorites.
