Who is even available at this point?

If it was me I'd talk to Floyd Reese at ESPN.

Myself I would go after Stephen Jones. :lmao2:

Millen is fired and you are William Clay Ford. Who do you hire to take over the job?

Ed McGuire, the assistant GM at San Diego.

About time that Millen was fired but this isn't going to change anything in the Williams situation. Williams will finish the year in Detriot but I don't imagine they'll make any strong push to keep him beyond that.

You're probably right...but it would be advantageous for them to trade him and get something out of him...instead of just letting him go for nothing at the end of the season.

Also, if he came here it would take some time to get him going...he would have to learn the offense. But he would be great in the redzone!!!!

I don't see why it wouldn't change anything.

Any new GM they bring in would be beholden to keeping Roy Williams - a guy he didn't draft.

And the draft pick(s) to be had by trading him would assist the new regime in improving the talent on the team.

And letting Williams leave next year for nothing is outright foolish.

I think the odds of Roy Williams being traded just rose dramatically.

Yep, I'd say so. Plus he's already suggesting the coaching staff's game plans are more to blame than Millen. The umbilical cord is showing.

To be fair, Kitna is saying the same thing. But we aren't going to be trading for Kitna, at least I hope we aren't....

He's under contract with the Lions for 2009. Williams is not. He wouldn't get the new regime some draft picks to build upon. Williams would.

Not exactly equal circumstances.

It's obvious that Roy Williams is fed up and unhappy in Detroit. He's doing his best to be civil in interviews, but his true feelings seem to be surfacing more and more as the losses mount.

And if the team is committed to Calvin Johnson and more focus on the running game, they should be looking to trade away a guy who doesn't fit into their plans while they can still get something for him.

The Lions are obviously not going to be competitive this year so whoever ends up in charge should look to the future.

I for one feel that the new GM should trade Williams to Dallas for a fourth round pick just to show the rest of the league that they will not tolerate his speaking out about the situation. It is obvious insubordination!

Why Dallas and not some other team? I would love to have him but I notice that fans look at trade from only their point of view and not that of the team who they want to trade with.
