Matt Millen finally fired

And this all had to do with Bill Ford Jr. stating that he would fire Matt Millen if he were the owner.

I think Hostile posted in another thread that the trade deadline was Oct. 14th, did I get this right?

This could become a big time bidding war.

The Roy Williams thing is going to depend on a lot of stuff. First, if Detriot isn't willing to rebuild now, Roy Williams is probably going anywhere.

Secondly, it will depend on who takes over and how they feel about the Roy Williams situation. Does he value him enough to spend franchise money on him and not get the trade return value. ($9Mish + first round pick, + something else)

Do you trade him now so in the end your first round pick next year is higher (because Roy doesn't help you win a game this year).

If I were the new GM. I trade Roy now and go after a first round pick, a second day pick, and a player of significant value. By significant value I mean a player capable of starting. All of that, plus saving $9M on a single player is worth more than keeping Roy Williams when I already know I don't have a shot at a SuperBowl title.

Why a #1? This is not a sellers market and Detroit is now desperate. Roy can be had for less than a 1st rounder.

You're dreaming. Roy easily commands a first round pick.

IDK i would try to low ball them be like Randy Moss didn't command a first round pick.

At 0-3 they are not going ANYWHERE, anytime soon. Best case scenario they go 9-7. Thats a pipe dream though.

If Roy Williams is still a Lion after this year then all signs to Detroit being the same as they have been for years under Millen.

Its time to start stockpiling "Draft picks" - that team needs an infusion of talent.

I would too, the difference between Roy Williams and Randy Moss is Moss was known in the league to half-*** it sometimes. Roy Williams is not. The only knock Williams has had is injuries.

9-7 won't get you a top 10 pick. They had better do better (read worse) than that. I think they should start stockpiling picks too. ...and quality offensive lineman.

My 9-7 was reference to trying to salvage season.

If they can get rid of Roy now then they will fall to a 4-12 team or worse.

Yes sir, you are. I also predicted this firing and trade talks to heat up.

Sold. Patrick Crayton, our '09 #1, and our #5th in '09.

Vindicated - coming soon ;)

Millen is fired and you are William Clay Ford. Who do you hire to take over the job?

Who is even available at this point?

If it was me I'd talk to Floyd Reese at ESPN.

If he doesn't come to the Cowboys, I just hope the Eagles don't get him.

Thanks Hostile,

I like the sound of this from another thread:

“Everybody would like to stay where they are drafted,” Williams said. “But at the same time, everybody would like to go back home as they get older.
My home is Texas.”

A 1st and a role player for Detroit to deter the Eagles. Also, would Roy possibly take less to come home?

This could get expensive all the way around.

Does Jerry hedge his bet for this year's Superbowl run?
