He would thrive in his new position in 2008, becoming a player that looked like he might have long-term stability at the spot.
He finished the season with five sacks, four pass defenses, two forced fumbles and 53 tackles

Matt Roth has become a mythical figure, a bar brawling beast in Dolphins-land, so I don't know if it's fitting to say the team's resident tough guy got waived.
I like to think of Roth's exit from the Miami Dolphins roster as a freeing more than a release
Why cut Roth, who played the past two weeks, instead of fellow outside linebacker Quentin Moses, who has barely sniffed the field this season? Neither plays on special teams. I can only conclude that the Trifecta felt Roth wasn't in the team's future, and that a parting of ways was best for all involved.

We would only be on the hook for his remaining base salary if we bite.

And Matt Roth has skins on the wall, he's never been a sack monster but there's no doubt he could come in and be a rotation player for us quickly.

But do we want to release Curtis Johnson to add Roth?

I say yes - what has C Johnson done except a couple of penalities

I have yet to here his name

TO be fair, KC tossed a guy who playes for Houston now and is having an outstanding year. We all know it doesnt take much to get into Parcells Doghouse, so that could be the reason. Other than that, this is a "a guy has been released and DALLAS needs him" thread.

So i agree 70 percent with you, 30 percent wants to know more about the guy and if we can sign him to the PS or bring him in for next year.

Nice post.

I thought that Roth was going to have trouble playing 3-4 OLB due to being "slower than Christmas" and having minimal coverage experience/ability, but he looked pretty good in 2008. He's not a freak athlete but gotta love his intangibles.

I like CuJo too though, so I hope he's not the one that has to go.

I usually chuckle at these threads. However this guy could probably swing at both OLB and the Mo maybe even the Mike.

If he's not a nut then I'd at least look at it. Octavian seems to be not up to this guys mojo.

There is no way Roth can play the WILB spot (Mo). None. To even suggest it is asinine.
