You have got to figure that Houston is still going to be a losing team- so their second rd pick next year will be fairly high. So that is a pretty high price for a guy with all of 2 starts. And not much experience.
Carr never had a chance- with that horrendous O line. And anyone who thinks that Jordan Black is all that much of an upgrade is dreaming. Spencer has to come back at full strength- and that is doubtfull - at least for part of the season. I do not see their O line being all that much better. Its amazing how LITTLE they have done to fix what was accepted by all as being the worst O line in football for the last 4 years- even worse then the raiders last year, which was saying a lot.

Davis is never going to play another down of football book it

He was healthy enough last year he just complained his knee did not feel right the doctors told him his knee was never going to feel the same and he was having a hard time dealing with the tendinitis type pain stuff.

he is done gone out of here. In case you did not know he is no longer named Davis he changed his last name to his mothers maiden name of Williams (something along that line)

Earlier ESPN radio was saying that the 2nd round picks may be conditional on how well Shaub does for the Texans. Don't know if that was true or not.

What was the initial asking price for Shaub? A 1st and a 3rd this year? Dropping two spots and losing two 2nd round picks is less than that, so Houston didn't over spend as much as they could have to get Shaub.

If the best you can say about a trade is "it could have been worse", chances are it wasn't very good to begin with.

It's a bad move because the Texans aren't one qb away from being a contender. The team's core talent base simply isn't very good. They have a bunch of guys in their starting lineup who would be backups on most NFL squads, most noticeably in the secondary. Those second rounders could (and should) have been used to upgrade the overall talent level.

I don't think its that bad of a trade. Move down a 2 picks and 2 seconds. Not a bad price if you are an organization and you think this guy can be solid.

that's too high for him IMO

I think he's a legit Top 15 pick (I think goose had him in his Top 10 prospects at the combine), and there's a Grand Canyon sized drop off between him and the next tier of OT's.

It IS the Texans, though. Second only to the Lions in draft stupidity. Though picking a O lineman in the first would at least be a step forward for them.

true about him being #2 on the list and the dropoff from there is pretty steep, I just get visions of Jordan Gross, who was taken at 13 by Carolina, and who's better suited at RT, Levi looks like a better RT than LT

Texans were idiots for not drafting Vince Young last year in the first place!!!!!! now while i think Schuab looks like he has a chance to be a very good QB, the texans still overpayed for him

True but don't forget this was a team that traded Brett Favre in favor of Chris Miller 16 years ago.

Atlanta's now two spots closer to Laron Landry.
And Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson if they fall, plus they now have two high 2nds to use as carrots.

I personally don't believe for a second that Shaub will be better than Carr...no way, no how.
