Mavs Trade Luka to Lakers

I think there is.

You couldn’t win a ring with Luka. Maybe Lakers can with him playing a longside one of the greatest players in the league. Prime example when things got bad last night after Luka got gassed….Lebron turned vintage and it was too much.
Ridiculous assertion, considering he carried the team to the finals just last year.

How is it ridiculous? In 7 years how many times did he carry them to a ring? Not saying he should’ve but I certainly can understand someone saying they don’t think he could.
How long did it take Dirk? How long did it take Lebron? He had a garbage team and took them way further than anyone expected. If they built a real team around him, he would have them in contention every year.

How were they garbage when they beat every team in front of them aside from Boston who dominated everyone?

And it did take Dirk awhile and he got unfairly criticized for it too. They use to call him soft among other things meanwhile he’s getting rocked and his teeth knocked out and still scoring 30 points.

Jayson Tatum won ring #1 in year 7. In his first 6 years he had 2 1st team All-NBA.

LeBron James won ring #1 in year 9. In his first 8 years he had 5 1st team All-NBA.

Michael Jordan won ring #1 in year 7. In his first 5 years he had 4 1st team All-NBA.

Shaquille O’Neal won ring #1 in year 8. In his first 7 years he had 1 first team All-NBA.

Dirk Novitzki won ring #1 in year 13. In his first 12 years he had 4 first team All-NBA.

Hakeem Olajuwon won ring #1 in year 10. In his first 9 years he had 4 1st team All-NBA.

Isiah Thomas won ring #1 in year 7. In his first 6 years he had 3 1st team All-NBA.

David Robinson won ring #1 in year 10. In his first 9 years he had 4 1st team All-NBA.

These are the players closest to Luka’s situation. Luka has 5 1st team All-NBA’s through 7 years. They Gave Luka + Kyrie 1 full year before they blew it up. Kyrie and Luka were 1 for 1 in Finals appearances, they were just a few pieces away. This doesn’t mean Dallas was guaranteed to win the championship, but you tweak the team every year until you get closer. In every one of these previous scenarios, it would have been monumentally short sighted to trade the superstar early.

Fandoms in both Basketball and Football have become too obsessed with “get rich quick” roster development, and prefer to tear down over and over again rather than see things through. Dallas was on the right path, get Luka and Kyrie 1 more big and that probably would have done it. Now Dallas went form WC champions to many years behind OKC, Houston, and now LAL.

I read where sponsors / ad revenue as well as fans are revolting in the attendance figures . Costing the franchise millions . Anyone seriously think this team goes to the NBA finals last year without Luka is delusional .

And while I’m at it the horrible GM had to get ownership to sign off on the trade no way he shipped Donic out without clearing it .

All foreseeable as I railed on about how stupid this trade was back on pages 3/4 lol.
Luka is insanely marketable and is already with Nike(Jordan) and Gatorade.
He will be the biggest star in the sport in 14 months if not in 2 as LeBron retires.

The NBA is never beating the fixed allegations.

Adelsons buy Cuban off, they move Luka to LA, Adelsons sell Mavs to private equity firm, NBA grants Adelsons Vegas expansion team.

So much screams this was more than just a very bad trade.
There had to be pressures/under table deals from someone here that just hasn't show it's head yet. Be it the NBA, Nico/Nike or whatever.

This trade just makes me sick every time I think about it....I can't recall anything in sports that compares

The game the other night did nothing but piss me off more and I'm guessing the entire Mavs fan base felt the same.

Even for players currently on the team...especially AD, it's a horrible situation they have been put in.

Yes. This year and next.
After that it goes the way of the wind.
No R1 in 27.
28 is a pick swap with friggin OKC!!!
29 you get the Lakers pick and you have your own subject to 3 team pick swap madness --this is good in that it allows you trade a pick in here somewhere since you have 1 free pick not attached to swaps.
30 you have a pick but subject to pick swaps.
Just be aware, if Nico is still here after this season - he plans on pushing hard for KD. Which would take Gafford, PJ and Klay/Naji plus draft picks

The guy fully plans on depleting everything for 1 run w/ the trio of Kyrie/AD/KD. There is about a 2% chance of that working out - so just be ready for no draft picks, a broken down aging team and no future path towards success.

It’s sad it’s come to this but it did do a disservice to those who got traded for like Ad and Christie. They didn’t think this through or didn’t care.

KD doesn't have the Mavs on his list.
And Kyrie won't be ready to start the year.
So that all feels very unlikely but I do think he intended that at the time of the trade.
