Mavs Trade Luka to Lakers

KD doesn't have the Mavs on his list.
And Kyrie won't be ready to start the year.
So that all feels very unlikely but I do think he intended that at the time of the trade.
The Mavs are screwed. AD could easily demand a trade since he had no say joining this train wreck. Kyrie is up for another max extension after next year when he'll be staring 35 in the face. Nobody is coming here to save Nico.

I don't care what Silver says. The ONLY thing that makes sense is that the new owners are sabotaging this team in hopes of running off the fanbase so they can eventually justify moving it to Vegas. They trade away a generational talent in his prime that the fan base loves on the premise they want to play more D. But Kyrie is the one of the worst off ball defenders in the league and they were were planning on building around him? makes no sense. They run off Dirk Nowitski who's the team GOAT. Nico continues to inflame the fanbase holding unnecessary pressers about the trade. Ownership has gotta be paying him tons of cash to torpedo this team and his career.

The alternative is that Nico is actually this dumb.

In short, yes.

I was initially of belief it was ownership but now I am in the it was all Nico camp.
Ownership is losing TONS of money and while they definitely want to own a franchise in Vegas that seems a "years away" prospect if it were to occur at all.
The easiest way to get a Vegas franchise would have been to simply buy an expansion one.
DFW is too big a market for the NBA to lose it entirely.

But how? Nobody is this dumb let alone a guy who rose to be a GM. Ownership had to approve this trade.

I think the proof will be in how ownership handles him this offseason. If they fire him, then it's bc he owns the trade error. If they keep him, then they are a part of it.
