There is a middle ground between haters and fanboys. Dak is in season 6 of his career and he's got 1 playoff win and .500 record as a QB. So what credit would you like conferred on him? Should the credit outweigh his actual accomplishments on the field?

If you’re using wins and losses to measure one guy, you’re off base.

I get you're point, but fans constantly pointing out a bad play, which even HOF players have, gets old.
I even said in my post all QB's hold onto the ball at times.

Yet when I say that, I'm the devil.

I think Dak is very good. I also think Blake has no perspective. None. Talk about intolerant

When national sports pundits who are notorious for denying some of our players credit begin to acknowledge who Dak is, it’s time for the haters on this board to recognize they are extreme outliers, and their opinion does not matter in the least. It’s like telling them water is wet and them just digging their heels in the sand and saying, “No it’s not!”. They’re like petulant children throwing a temper tantrum because they didn’t get their way. No national sports journalist is going to risk embarrassing themselves on live tv with such a comparison unless this were the consensus opinion of Dak amongst many in media and the league.

In 2 weeks they will be talking about how much hot garbage he is and that he's not even a Top 10 QB. Media talking heads are crazy... He's had a good 3 game stretch, he's going to have a bad X game stretch then he will be good again. its just the way of NFL (Not for long).

I do believe we earned the 4th pick in the draft that year... not quite playoff ready.
The starting QB, Tony Romo, remember him, was out for 8 games with a broken collarbone which the Cowboys won ZERO.....but don't let facts get in the way.

And Yes the Cowboys were considered playoff and Superbowl contenders with Romo the next year(Daks Draft year)in a weak division...many were picking Dallas/ San Diego Superbowl that year I believe

Time will tell. But should Dak continue playing at a high level for X games, prepare to eat your words.

Romo always was so fragile. Should’ve retired sooner.

You probably will say dumb stuff like this about Mathew Stafford too whose team records are far worse. But, anyone with a football eye can look at Stafford and see that he has that QB craft down and is danged good at it. I've watched Dak improve every year. I've seen a lot of the hurdles he's had to clear and now he passes that eye test so brilliantly that even Stevie Wonder AND Ray Charles can see it.

You probably don't think to highly of Marino either (he and Dak have the same winning percentage and it's substantially higher than .500). Now I'm not totally comparing the two as Dak had Garrett and DM had Shula and all that implies.

I would confer on him the credit that he's come a helluva long way since 2016 and is now a very, very, very good pro-QB. I think what you've laid on him is dishonest in that you only judge him by TEAM accomplishments.

FTR I can't stand Kellerman as he's a die hard GiAint fan.

Manning didn’t win a playoff game in 3 playoff starts until his 4th in 2004. Manning didn’t win a super bowl until nearly a decade after he was drafted. You guys are so blinded by Dak hatred that it shines a glaring spotlight on your hypocrisy and double standards.
Speaking facts as usual.

He’s good I will give him that. And they are right he’s gotten better and better. This year it is very Payton like in calling the plays and changing plays etc. Romo did that too at the end of his career. What’s separates Dak though is his leadership. We haven’t had that since Aikman and Irvin.

oh i’m on the Dak team. so i’m thinking probowl this year possibly mvp. but like every QB they will have a bad game or 2. my comment was that media heads will freak out about nothing and say the sky is falling.

so no eating of words.

2004 was when the NFL changed the DB rules.. coincidentally than Manning started winning in the playoffs. Everybody’s numbers started going up and Jake Plummer threw for over 4000 yards with the Broncos for the first time ever eclipsing Elway, who didn’t do it once his whole career. The league started enforcing illegal contact more and the penalties for it started increasing, meaning DBd started back off way more.

In 2016, the total accepted penalties for PI and illegal contact were 5780 yards while 2003, it was 4594 yards.

Elway, Marino and Aikman were all better than Manning. The most similar analogy between Manning against a 90s era pass defense is his “record setting” Denver offense that got completely stifled in the SB by the LOB and Seattle. Complete annihilation, not just beating Denver..

Just stop this idiocy.. This era is even softer than the Manning post-2004 era..

What an ignorant way to evaluate a QB or any player.

No way in hell Elway, Marino and Aikman were better than Peyton Manning, that's crazy.

Yes, they were. Manning couldn’t win until they changed the rules in 2004, otherwise he couldn’t get by the Patriots secondary. He also got choked in his record setting Denver offense by the LOB which were the prototypical aggressive, DBs that everybody said was getting away with contact that was typical of the 90s era.

In one sense, the comparison is ludicrous.
In context, I think Kellerman was comparing how both command the calls when under center.
I can see the confidence Dak exhibits when he steps to the line. He's now changing plays, getting guys in position, etc.
Whether he's checking into the right plays is a different discussion. But he looks like he knows what he's doing when he approaches the line of scrimmage.
That bodes well for the Cowboys offense.

Further, both Denver and New England were basically the proto-typical pick play team in this era of soft DB rules, meaning inflated yardage had a lot to do with even more significant lenience allowed for the offense.
