Maybe a benching will get Roy Williams' attention.

Man, I hate how Jerry Jones has once again painted the team into a corner at a position. This one being RW at WR, of course. The guy would not even be on the roster if he were anyone else. As it is, we're stuck with him for at least another two seasons, or until we find a team crazy enough to take him & his salary.

I wonder if Wade benched him for the Eagles game, if he would come out of it. I mean, what could it hurt? Romo's to the point where Wiliams is the last option, after Austin, Witten, Ogletree, Crayton, Bennett, Hurd, Phillips... Gurode...:).

He's not even a good decoy. Cover him with your 2nd corner & you're good to go. Either bench him or get him to a good psychologist. Dude is to the point where he can't catch a cold. That play where he caught the TD, you could tell Romo was dodging rushers left & right to find ANYONE except #11. Romo threw it to him because he was the last option available. His blocking is even starting to suck. He gets a half decent block, & Witten scores on that big catch & run.

To be a true threat as an offense in today's league, you have to have at least two legitimate threats at wideout. Crayton & Hurd have shown they are good backups & that's it. I think we should start Ogletree & see what the rook can do. That way, we have a little better idea going into next years' draft just how high we need to draft another one.

You dont bench Roy Williams. The guy is a good, quality WR that is mentally muffing up.

You play him through this and hope he gets locked in.... soon!!

We actually had fans calling to bench Romo for Kitna after Week 2.

So how long do you keep that mentality?

We stuck with Folk for a long time. Let's say RW is still dropping key passes this time next year. Do you bench him then?

I agree with you that now is not the time. I'm just wondering how long we stick with it down the road.

It would depend on if his problem is effort, toughness, or confidence. If his problem is confidence, then keep playing him. If his problem is effort or toughness, bench him for the week 17 game.

He'll start the rest of the season.

Next season, if he is brought back, it should be an open competition for #2 WR amongst all the incumbents and any rookies drafted. No one on the roster has proven they deserve the spot.

I think Ogletree would win an open competition next year. RoyW could win it if he really dedicates the offseason to improving his speed, routes and hands. If he isnt deeply embarassed by this abomination of a season for a former Pro Bowler, he should be released on the spot because he doesn't get it.

A few thoughts, and I'll retreat to my corner.

I think it's ridiculous to say Williams isn't good enough to be on the roster. Manuel Johnson or Jesse Holley are really better?

Secondly, I don't think now is the time for a benching -- be it Williams or either the other scapegoat, Marion Barber. By all means I think roles can continue to change and evolve. Maybe Roy is involved in less plays and Ogletree more. But I don't think it's the time for a message-sending benching.

If he is brought back???? Do you even know how much money he is GUARANTEED from Dallas? Just think if it were your money you had to pay him. Stop thinking like a fan when it comes to RW.

He is not going ANYWHERE.

Well at least that's a new ******** Row Williams bashing. Didn't think it was possible.

He has a $9.5 million roster bonus due this offseason, I think. It's totally within the realm of possibilities that he gets released.

I don't think it will happen, but not alot of teams would be willing to shell out that kind of cash for RW's production.

I am as frustrated as the next guy about Roy Williams. I dont like his attitude of blaming everything from the sun to bad balls thrown by the QB, I dont like the fact that he leads the NFL in on-target drops, and I dont like the effort I saw on the half-arse block in the Skins game on the Witten pass.

However, now is not the time for a benching. We need absolutely no distractions or controversy or anything taking away from preparing for the Eagles. This game is one of the biggest regular season games in franchise history. We could possibly have the #2 seed riding on this game for us.

Now in the offseason, I say we have an open competiton for the #2 WR spot. We all know Austin is the #1, so lets have everybody else compete for the #2 and may the best WR win.
