I agree with this. But I think his locking up has to do with the fact that he already got paid and doesn't seem overly interested in being a great player. Some players take pride in this. I can see a huge difference in Miles Austin's work ethic and Roy Williams just by hearing the two talk and seeing their reactions on the field.
When he stops being nonchalant I think that's when Roy gets "locked in". Right now I don't see him playing with much passion. But this is just my personal observation.
I think the mistake there is going by what he says in the media or how he smiles when he drops a ball.
1. He tells the media "drops happen" and "insert other excuse here". He doesnt want to be having that conversation. I am sure he would rather be talking about a 10 catch/ 150 yard game. I dont buy that he doesnt care or he got paid and is just doing enough. I dont. No way.
2. He drops the ball and smiles but seriously he is not smiling as if "ha ha that was funny lets do that again", he smiles as if to say, "I cant believe it, again.. come on". Laughing so not to explode.
I think Roy is ecstatic about being a Dallas Cowboy.
I think Roy wants to contribute in a big way.
He is just going through a rough transition. Think about it. He goes from zero to a team of heroes and he is trying to do too much.
The other day he was trying to run with the pass before he secured it. He was aiming for 1st down/end zone.
Come on ROY!!!
