Maybe Dallas is simply over-rated

You guys are so predictable.

The over reactions are just comedy. We have a special team and one game doesn't change that.

Go cry in a pillow, recover, and be glad you get to root for one of the best teams on a weekly basis.

Washington isn't better than us and it will all play out.

and you have that in writing somewhere? Other then a Superbowl win this season is a complete and utter Failure

don't mind Motley, he thinks Aikman couldn't throw a deep ball and that Irvin was nothing but a possession receiver

(he also only shows up when we lose)

Idiotic Comment...check your history...I've been here every week.

1. I'll stand by the opinion that Aikman wasn't good on the long ball, almost always underthrowing it, but I've also said he was the most accurate passer overall that we've ever had.

2. I'll challenge you to find a single post where I said Irvin was a possession receiver...that's either an outright lie, or you just like to make up creative stories. Irvin is the best WR to ever wear the Cowboy uniform, and it isn't even close. He lost a lot of TD's by waiting on Aikman underthrows and being tackled inside the five, giving his TD's to Emmitt.

Whether you say the Skins were under-rated and can beat anyone, or the Cowboys are over-rated, especially by the media, is the same thing to me. In the thread I suggested that we have a lot of talent and will be much better in Nov than now. But right now it's my opinion that we're over-rated, especially on Defense.

Clearly, our safeties are not playing as well as the Skins' safeties. Our CB's are not playing as well as theirs, though we have just as much talent in our starters and much more depth. Our front seven is over-rated in my opinion...Ware is a beast...Ellis is above average...Ratliff is a great penetrator but slightly undersized....Canty and Spears don't give us much on any consistent basis...to say they could start on most other teams is a stretch in my opinion. ILB's...I'm not impressed this year, not yet.

These are my opinions...I don't think Dallas is heads and shoulders above the rest of the league, and unless we get much much better on defense, I'm not sure we'll win the division. Our team lives and dies on the offense...that's tough. I don't think we truly turn the corner until we have a defense that plays up to its #1 draft picks and salaries...the defense should be able to carry the offense from time to time against good teams that give great defensive efforts.

I always wonder if the posters here watch any other teams. With Sunday Ticket I see a lot of the other games and notice that every team has flaws, some on offence, some on defence.

We are the best overall. Of that I have no doubt.

Dallas is a good team, not a great team. Defense is vastly overrated and the coaching staff is the worst in the division.

With the talent and out of division schedule we have, we should win 11-12 games.

But this team doesn't have "it". We don't have the chemistry, don't have the intensity, and don't have the clutch play in crunch time.

There's always a chance they develop "it" or catch fire down the stretch, but I'll believe it when I see it. So far I have yet to see it with this bunch, even going back to Parcell's days.

I agree its not a good defense, It don't know who has rated them so dominate...and if you think Jim Zorn is a better coach then Phillips I want what your smoking...

That being said I will judge this team in DEC....but today's display was a joke especially at home against the Commanders no excuse for 12 men on the field at at the most crucial time in the game

definately overrated. 10-6 is more like it

Didn't a team with that record win the superbowl last year? Just saying? And don't give me that it was the first time it happened or something. In today's NFL, the very best, is not that much better than top of mediocrity.

Yep, Defense is defense is way overrated, and has been for a while. At most Defense seem to play well in 2-3 games a year. Rest of them, it always seems to be upto Offense to put up lot of points to win the game.

Well if you think they are over rated than maybe you shouldn't expect a superbowl.

Go ahead and lower the expectations if you think they are over rated.

Personally I still think we are the best team in the division, conference, and the league.

And even if I'm wrong and we are not than we are on who ever is heels .

Count me in the group that thinks this loss will be a huge positive for the season. Over-rated? Probably. But I'm more concerned about the mental toughness. They looked flat and didn't respond until it was too late.

Overrated? Far from it. I honestly believe you guys have easily assembled one of the best teams in the league. The problems are elsewhere.

For starters, Tony Romo believes the hype about him. He's a young kid, you can't blame him. However, this will continue to be the Cowboys achille's heel. If Romo was a veteran and had this team, they might be damn near unbeatable. Since he is so young, he is in the brightest spotlight, and he hears nothing all day but how wonderful he is, and starts getting Pepsi endorsements he hasn't earned (No Ring) he's gonna have a big head. He can't get up for the big ones yet, but he'll get there. For your sake, you better just hope he gets there while T.O. is there, or it might be irrelevant.

Dallas consistently underestimates great opponents. The media is in JJ's pocket, along with the broadcasters (who all seem to be ex-Cowboys), and it overinflates their perceived level of greatness. The Patriots were hyped like they were gods, but generally stayed humble about it. In the process they racked up 3 titles, and the 3 longest winning streaks in history, and also became the only 16-0 team in history. They never took anyone lightly until they met NY last year. Their mistake, because they nearly had their throats slit by them in the last regular season game.

As long as Dallas believes they are invincible, they will shoot themselves in the foot. As long as they look at the Commanders like they are the Skins of the 90's, they will keep getting beat by them, just like 5 of the last 7 times.

The media has a love affair with Dallas, and they despise the Commanders. Becuase of this, Dallas feels they are superior to the Skins no matter what, because even when they were great (1983,1987,1991) the media gave them no love, so Cowboys think they are just going to waltz away with every game.

It's the attitude that beats you, not the lack of talent. They don't play to win when they need to. They're their own worst enemy.

I'd consider winning a playoff game a success.

End that drought...

This defense won't win a championship unless it improves. But I don't know where the improvement will come from. They've been in the 3-4 for six years now. Some of our biggest weaknesses are from veterans who were former #1 picks. Wade's now in his second season here and nothing has changed. They may suddenly get it, of course I may win the lottery.

As for Wade and Zorn, you'd be hard pressed to prove Phillips is better. In just four games as HC, Zorn already has his team grasping and executing his offense and his team seems to get better each week. And, I doubt it'll take him 20+ years to win a playoff game.

Even if Wade wasn't a great HC, you'd think he could excel at the primary thing he was brought here to do, and that was to coach the defense. The Eagles and rookie Zorn have already smoked us. I personally can't wait til Wade is gone.

I don't think we're overrated. I just think we are unprepared mentally sometimes. I also think we tend to panic sometimes for no reason, and the coaching becomes pass happy, or the players just seem to go through the motions and take plays off. The biggest gripe in the whole game today for me was when we went for three straight passes at midfield and were only down 20-17, which subsequently resulted in a punt. For an ivy league graduate, Garrett called junior college level on that drive.

I agree with your post except this part. I do not think we are liked. Now we do commercials and endorsements because the name is marketable and the organization is marketable. However, when it comes to talking about the game of football, we are not really liked so much. For example, 4/5 of the gameday crew despises the Cowboys and they don't hide it.

Right our Defensive players. Are not living up to there expectations... That not Wades fault ,Stewart on the other hand well that a different story he's responsible..He's the coordinator...But the players play and there not doing a very good job out there

Zorn 4 games.... I'm not giving up after 4 games but this D must improve vastly or were going nowhere....
