Maybe it's Romo?

First off, I'm the biggest Romo supporter around. You can easily search my posts to see me defending Romo in various Eli threads and other threads calling him in to question.

But maybe some of the problems with this team are attributable to Romo. You'll see time and time again people say things like "What is the one constant of these Cowboys" and the answer is Jerry Jones. But, another constant the past several years has been Tony Romo.

Another interesting thing to look at is Dez Bryant. He averages around 50ish yards a game with only a single 100 yard game. With Kitna, Bryant averaged 88 yards a game, had his only 100 yard performance with Kitna and averaged 1 TD in almost 4 games.

Just some food for thought. Bring on the facepalm emoticons.

They all have their weaknesses/flaws...Ware, Witten, Romo, etc. No one is sacred

I think the team does take on some of Romo's tendencies. Talent-wise, he's not an issue at all, but he does get down on himself very easily and starts moping and sulking and I think it rubs off on those around him.

But the team was incompetent before Romo got a chance to start. I'd probably hang the common denominator on Jerry. He's the only constant over the vast period of Cowboy failure.

Out of everyone mentioned so far in this thread (aside from Jerry), Dez Bryant is without a doubt the most flawed. I actually saw people comparing him to Calvin Johnson in the SNF thread. Sorry, but Dez isn't in the same zip code, not mentally anyway.

this has crossed my mind before.

but really he's the only things that gives us a chance to win. besides lee, ware, carr, and murray, everyone else is a scrub or a JAG. including the coaching staff.

I'm not a stat guy but I did have the impression that Bryant had his best games w/o Romo and that concerns me a bit.

Having said that I'm more concerned about win/loss than Bryant's stats so I think the primary problem (this year anyway) is OL, followed closely by the DL. I think we are either strong or good everywhere else at the moment.

eta: It's been over a decade IMO that the Cowboys had a good OL.

Romo is a gunslinger type quarterback. He is no Brett Favre but that is the closest comparison I can come up with. What people need to realize is how lucky we are to have this guy. Without Parcells and Sean Payton seeing something in the guy chances are Jerry would have dove head first into the Drew Henson experiment and this team would still be stuck in limbo when it comes to the quarterback position.

This team has quite a few problems but IMHO Romo is not one of them. Until Jerry drops his ego at the doorstep and brings in someone that can evaluate talent on a consistent level this team will continue to be the definition of average.

People wont be able to blame romo after next year. I can see him leaving dallas!! A lot of teams are gonna want him and when hes a FA i bet he shops teams and leaves. I wouldn't blame him one bit if we suck this year and next too. Hes a great qb

Maybe it's Jason Witten?

Or Demarcus Ware?

Was it Dan Marino and Don Shula?

Sometimes it just doesn't work. Taking your best players and wondering if they're a problem just because they've been here during some disappointing times makes no sense.

The fact is if not for Tony we are the Kansas City Chiefs. A talented roster that gets blown out all the time.

That is the main reason why we have failed, I couldn't put my finger on it, thanks.

Release Romo right now and we will win the SB!...

NO!!!!:bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Romo does not tackle, pass defend, run back kicks and punts, catch passes, block or coach, but he is very good at what he does!

I think the browns will win the SB before the cowboys will. No sarcasm intended. This teams went nowhere for 15 years and i dont see that changing

Hmm...you might be on to something. Romo has all the talent surrounding him that not many teams have.

He has a good oline, he has receivers that don't drop passes, he has at least a top 3 defense, he has everything going for him and how he loses games is beyond me.

Romo needs to get benched and let Orton play out the season so that the Cowboys will at least have a fighting chance. I bet if Orton threw those passes that Dez and Witten dropped, those balls would have been caught.

I cannot think of a single QB that throws a pick IN THE FIRST QTR!. Who does that? Romo does!

I'm sick and tired of Romo. The guy cannot even stop a 90 yard drive.

Interesting post from a big Romo supporter on this site. Romo is not a good leader and I would go so far as to say he is mentally weak. We were at the Seahawks 30 yard line when he threw that ridiculous interception. We were GUARANTEED 3 points at MINIMUM, instead the Seahawks get points. You don't think that is a momentum changer? Stuff like that really hurts our team and it seems that he is good for one of these every game.

The one thing in his head should have been.. "We have to get points here" if the play isn't there, don't force it. Romo is mentally weak. He is capable of playing at elite levels here and there and that is what fools every one. I want consistent confident play.

Look at Eli last Sunday, sure, he looked bad at first but there was ZERO and I mean ZERO quit in him. He lead his team back to victory with beautifully thrown balls and ended up with 510 yards passing and 3 TD'S. Would Romo have been capable of that this past Sunday?
