I think Cleveland takes Watkins with there 1st pick then gets Bridewater with there 2nd pick in the 1st round.

One thing to remember about Bridgewater and Cleveland. Bill Parcells consulted for them and spent a good day with Bridgewater and came away impressed.

The other interesting rumored landing spot for him is actually Cincinnati. Not going dismiss that since it looks like there is an issue with Andy Dalton getting an extension and Gruden was probably his biggest sponsor. Now Hue Jackson is taking over and might want a QB he wants.

I think he was joking.

No player, ever, wants to kill their draft prospects on purpose.
1) it could cost them many millions with no guarantee of a 2nd contract due to injury or performance
2) most of the greats want to play right away or very soon. Going to a team early in the draft who really needs a QB is how that is almost guaranteed to happen
3) Not all of the top teams have terrible talent. One example...Add a decent QB (and a few other parts) to Houston and they could be good.

hey, but if somehow fell to us in the 2nd, that would be amazing.

If I am an nfl player...i pretty much want to avoid oakland, cleveland, miami, buffalo, and a couple other teams. so, it could make some sense.

if makes ZERO sense to me that you play with gloves, know you dont throw well without gloves...then go to a tryout without gloves. why? theres got to be some reason to do such a thing.

Been stated before. Probably bad advice from an agent and undoubtedly pressure from scouts who wanted to see how he did without it. We now see that was a mistake.

Deliberate self-sabotage of his status seems unthinkable, but sometimes agents are crafty like that as they want their client in the best place, with the best chance to earn money quickly, in other words, get to that second contract. Things have changed a lot with the new CBA, in the past, there would have been a full court press to fix the damage done by that Pro Day. I just wonder who represents him and why there did not seem to be much of a campaign for damage control.

If he falls to the top of the second, or goes to a bad team with a late first round pick, somebody would have a lot of explaining to do.

I can't see any player intentionally blowing a workout. I think it's a significant red flag and I get why teams would be wary. The lead up to the draft is a gauntlet. You don't mess up at any point, you're a high pick. That's why a guy like Donald, who played in the Senior Bowl and blew up the combine, did everything asked of him, aced his interviews, and had great tape rises. If you check all the boxes and come out and chew your own arm off on your pro day, that's going to freak teams out.

If we could trade down to the end of the 1st with SF, pick up an additional 2nd, grab Bridgewater then get Easley and Lawrence in the 2nd, that would be plenty ok with me.

The way I wrote my latest mock (see sig) is a better scenario though. Aaron Murray and Jernigan > Bridgewater and 4th rd or later pick at 1 tech.

If I recall correctly, he was impressed with Tebow's workout.

Maybe have. I don't recall.
In any case, I've always trusted Mayock's assessments of DBs and maybe WRs more than other positions. I'm not sure his track record on QBs is anything special at all.

He was was on rooftops telling teams to not draft Chris Johnson because he couldn't make it through a season or at best was a 3rd down back. 6 years later, the guy had missed only one NFL game while carrying a monster load. They all miss sometime though, I just will always remember that massive whiff.

The lack of damage control was another oddity.

None of it just adds up to someone who is trying to go top pick. All it would take is teddy throwing one pass in front of his agent in private and saying "See, I cant throw very well without gloves."

things that make you go hmmmmm

You are totally nuts if you think Bridgewater does not want to get drafted in the top 5-10 in the draft.
Unimaginably off base.

No worries, I've been there to before. :)

Also...why would a player not want to play in Miami (HIS HOME TOWN)? Or Houston? Miami, I guess, doesn't matter anyway, as they have Tannehill.

So you think Teddy wants to earn millions less...maybe 10s of millions less for 4 years, maybe ride the bench some, just for a possible (but no way to predict likely) chance to play on a good team?

He had a bad pro day, but as everyone has said, his tape speaks for itself.

I am totally nuts lol. Why on earth else would he have done the pro-day in such a way? Its not like the kid and his agent didnt know he throws horribly with no gloves. They both knew that.

So why tank the whole day? Ive come up with no other semi-sane reason lol

Like your attitude!

Anyway, it may have been a huge blunder by him and his agent, but no kid works his whole life like he has to then purposely undo an entire senior year.
If you go in round two and get a career ending injury, wears talking 10-20 million gone and welcome to "would you like fries with that" type of job.

Possibly the glove story is just a cover for being nervous and blowing it.

but then why no private workout with special invites or some make-up after the fact? all just too weird.

and teddy has a pretty nice degree, so doubt he'd ever be asking anyone about french fries lol

good news for us!

My current take on this situation is this: If the Cowboys are in the market for Bridgewater, they should have done their due dilligence and had him in for a private workout. Bridgewater has worked out for the Jaguars and Vikings since his Pro Day by the way, reportedly doing well in the Jaguar one. I'd want to see him score well in the thing before pulling the trigger on my first round 16 pick. With that 16 pick I want to see with my own eyes it was just the glove.
