Free-agent acquisition Benson Mayowa benched for lack of productivity

FRISCO, Texas -- For the last several seasons, the Dallas Cowboys have shied away from spending big money on free agents.

That stance isn't likely to change based on the production of their two highest-priced free-agent additions this offseason.

Neither Cedric Thornton nor Benson Mayowa are in the starting lineup.

At least Thornton played Sunday against Pittsburgh. Mayowa, who signed a three-year deal worth $8.25 million in the offseason, was inactive.

Ryan Davis, signed last month, took Mayowa's spot.

Who couldn't see that coming? He was a hail mary that appears to have dropped at the 10 yard line when your WR is standing 8 yards deep in the end zone.

DE is the highest of high priorities in this offseason. Especially since it appears the closest Gregory will get to the football field next year will be if he buys a ticket.

The guy has been a ghost

He was able to walk from two teams who didn't put up much of a fight to keep him. That should have been a sign. I get that he apparently has some freakish skills but the NFL is littered with guys with great skills that never amount to much. Up here in Philly, they want to run Green-Beckham out on a rail. The guy is a physical freak of nature but has a ten cent head and can't put it together on the field.

If you go off snap counts, it seems that the coaching staff sees our most productive D-line as Lawrence & Irving on the outside and Tyrone Crawford as DT, with Collins/McClain getting equal time in the other spot.

Ryan Davis & Jack Crawford are the other DEs and Thornton is the other DT.

Did anyone hear Derrick on the Break. Tay asked how much is Mayowa making Derrick said whatever he is making he is making it from the bench on Sunday it was hilarious.

bottom 1/3 of the league in QB hurries (44) and dead center of the league in total sacks (16)

really sucks that Mayowa is a flop, Gregory can't put the bong down, and we couldn't make a deal before the trade deadline. Maybe Ryan Davis can be this team's 2015 David Irving, because I truly believe DLaw is on the verge of having a massive breakout if only this team can find someone to draw attention away from him on the other side

I think Irving has played a lot more DT than DE, while T. Crawford spends more of his time at LDE.

gregory would not be able to afford a ticket.
