Noah Spence also has 4 sacks and 10 tackles. 2 FFs to boot. And he was available in the 2nd. Could have had Zeke and Noah. And most likely Jaylon Smith too, if Cowboys stayed with their original strategy to draft a DE then move up from the 3rd to take Jaylon Smith.

True. I never liked Gregory and tank is ok. I didn't like Russell as well and I'm not sold on Tapper coming back and playing at a high level next year. Id like a cliff Avril, Dunlap, Bennett, Griffen type a 7-9 mill a year DE

Hopefully they'll address it this off season.

That's fine. A young team with as much talent as we have veteran free agents will want to play for us. Our next few drafts should focus heavy on defense in the first few rounds and with the right free agents our defense will catch up with our offense fairly quickly.

One elite DE could completely change this defense. They have a lot of solid blue-collar type players on defense and on the DLine. One elite DE then makes DLaw the 2nd DE. DLaw is just OK as a teams top DE but as a #2 DE he should compare really well to other teams #2 DEs.

On the nineties Super Bowl teams, the DLine would have been very average without Charles Haley. Yes, Russel Maryland was a top draft pick, but he was really just a good, not great player. Casillas, Tolbert, Hennings were all solid but not great players. Lett could have been but he missed too many games due to injures and suspensions.

There do seem to be good DEs in the 2017 draft than in 2016. There are a couple that appear to be better than the top DE from 2016. Unfortunately, the Cowboys would have to give up the farm to move up into the top 10 for one of the elite guys (Myles Garrett).
