For whatever reason, Mazi just hasn't shown much in his first two years. I expect this trend to continue, but I'd love to be wrong.
Well, he's in good company with all the other first-round busts joining the defense. Maybe they can all rally together.Yeah,no not believing that he is going to be breaking out. They will continue to start him in fear of losing a first round asset not because he has proven anything.
They will get one. The others will remain unsolved for now, and by the time it’s fixed under this philosophy, another position will become a problem. Our best best as far as getting multiple studs may be WR/DT/RB.
I think if we followed that format in the first 3 rounds we'd probably have significant contributions from all 3.

I understand hat having a perfect roster in the cap era is difficult, but it’s pretty much necessary with this FO and the coaches they are willing to hire.
He’s the new Randy Gregory.
Any year now he’s gonna be all-pro. You’ll see.
Sounds good to me. If they want a WR that they expect to hit the field in year one that’s probably gotta be the first rounder, as much as I want high picks invested in the DL.You can actually get strong contributions from DT and RB later in this draft. At least they are deeper than normal classes. Not saying I expect it, but it's not a crazy thought to believe our needs line up well with this draft.
SMH. Cowboys fans love, crave, and demand mediocrity. As a Michigan fan, I was a fan of Mazi in college but not of his slow development. The same seems to be true for him in the NFL. But looking at next gen stats and AI analysis of the position... a breakout could be coming.
"based on observations and data, many DTs see a significant rise in their role and impact after a few seasons, often around their 3rd or 4th year."
The talent is there. The preparation time has been put in... what what about the coach? Eberflus is a fan: "Yeah, I'm excited about Mazi," Eberflus said, via the team's website. "I liked him coming out. He's a real explosive athlete, with a big body type that can move really well. Excited about bringing his game to the next level, and he could certainly do that."
Mazi appeared to "turn the corner" late last year and with the appropriate amount of "seasoning"... I think he could be posed for a breakout this year.
Randy Gregory was one of the most overrated players I've ever seen here. His production was mediocre at best. His issues were on and off the field.Actually, on the field, Gregory was better. Gregory's issues were OFF the field.
I hadn't thought of that angle.Well, he's in good company with all the other first-round busts joining the defense. Maybe they can all rally together.
Randy Gregory is Reggie White compared to Mazi Smith.Actually, on the field, Gregory was better. Gregory's issues were OFF the field.
It's most likely a lot of coach speak... but Mazi is an impressive athlete. He did rank #1 on Bruce Feldman's "College Football Freaks List" prior to the 2022 season and when user input his metrics into RAS he scored a 9.99.

Jordan Lewis was a good player. So far, the DAL MICH players have been trash.

Mazi's breakthrough is coming, whether it take 10 years. Yoda is all in.it'sAs a Michigan fan, I was a fan of Mazi in college but not of his slow development. The same seems to be true for him in the NFL. But looking at next gen stats and AI analysis of the position... a breakout could be coming.

God is great.Anyone thinking they were going to be superstars should be stoned to death.
