How can you tell an apple tree is actually an apple tree? ( whistling.........) Answer: By the fruit it produces. Another way of saying the cliche, talk is cheaper, show it.

When the Cowboys drafted Mazi, the sell job was " he is a great athlete". The Cowboys will coach the NFL into him. Well, a meanless preseason game and training camps, the Dallas Cowboys staff is not producing the fruit they were selling....so far. The staff couldn't do it with John Ridgeway after selling him when he was drafted. Dallas cut him and was picked up by the Commanders, who is a starters for them now.
Not giving up on Mazi, nor did he have a bust game, but being a #1 pick, the 1st showing was somewhat yawning.

And your 2nd round pick --right now --- looks like your 3rd string TE.

Want to see why Dallas can't sniff a NFC Conference game in 30 years, the groceries are bought from ALDI store
(Side note: OL was B-A-D and if just one starter goes down, look out )

I'm worried he's going to fall into the 'great athlete, ok football player' category. Doesn't help that the other highly drafted DT (Carter) apparently played just 2 snaps and on 1 of them blew right by the OL to almost sack the Ravens QB. Expecting Mazi to be the kind of player Carter is going to be isn't even slightly realistic, but hopefully he can keep improving.

Your second round pick had 3 days of practice and just played in an NFL game. FyI, he was impressive last night. Can we at least give a guy a few months into an NFL career?

It usually takes DLinemen a couple years to mature to get up to NFL speed.

Very typical of the position.

Actually, maybe not. We have heard the same lines when Taco Carlton was drafted. "Give the guy a chance". Until this franchise can get to a NFC Conference game, then the "give them a chance" has been worn out for 3 decades.
Sorry, the fruit has been rotten, on the vine, to long. TOO LONG. This is the Dallas Cowboys not the Detroit Lions when their fans are used to apologizes season after season.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of players being hoisted upon a pedestal when they haven't done a dam thing in the NFL. Our 2nd rd pick has been battling feet issues most of his first training camp and for some reason he's getting all this pub about how he's going to slide right into that starting TE position when the Boys have two TEs who could probably start for a few NFL clubs right now.

You would have a valid point if Schoon played poorly. So there is nothing to make an excuse or apologize for. People who look at box scores only don't have a clue as to how well he played.

Mazi has work to do but was very pleased with draft class other the Fehoko

Peeps expect exactly what from a 1st round 1tech?
He is already doing what he is supposed to do, he is just a rook and got a welcome to the NFL in his very first live action at this level.
I don't know what most are expecting from a stud 1 tech, but my guess is that most don't understand the true 1 tech role.

Where have you seen this pub?

Yesterday I read an article here about how Mazi's first step was much quicker than expected and how he was pushing his fellow teammates around during drills at training camp with his strength and quickness.
I saw none of that in the first PSG.
.
However, it's his first professional game, so we'll see how he does in the next one.

Not worried about Mazi....PS games will be a big help for him to acclimate himself. He was picked to be primarily a run stuffer and with Hankins in there they do clog up the middle and keep the LBs clean. They have other guys who should bring the pressure.
