I think 1st round picks are customarily "mistreated" by their coaches who want to set a very high standard for their charge. Assistant coaches are also evaluated by their HC's.

Mazi gets the special treatment as they say and it could kick him into gear at some point. I'm not ready to consider him a bust, not after one season.

I've seen late bloomers and they usually come from one of the lines.
