He flashed some over the last game and a half, which is more than we saw last year. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless. I liked what I saw yesterday. The man was ferocious. Like he was pissed off at all of the negative press, and decided to do something about it. Going to need to see it on a regular basis. We'll see what happens. My vote, Space Jam.

apparently according to Parsons he's been getting more massages and changing his diet a little bit with the help of some of his teammates you know there's a big adjustment the man came off his shoulder surgery gained back 20 plus pounds is it a different defense maybe he's turning the corner or this is just one great game we don't know...
I saw flashes of Jerry Ball.

Look man it was one game and he deserves his props but I'm gonna need to see more but he has had more and more of those moments each game this year people just can't tell because of the scrum in the middle it's hard to see the nose tackle doing anything.. The ironic thing is he still looks like he has a nice first step for a nose tackle getting around some people and trying to chase down the play after gaining back 20 plus pounds I mean I'm not gonna think much more of this I'm gonna keep it game to game like I do the whole season and my expectations are gonna be kept low for the whole entire team but this kids gonna have to show this over a long..

The expectations are unfairly high on Mazi since he was a first rounder and how much of a problem the position has been for Dallas.

The reality is he was picked by in the late first in a draft that may have been one of the overall worst in the last 10-15 years. Teams generally assign way less than 32 first round grades, so he is essentially a second round talent, possibly bordering on third.

It’s not unreasonable for that type of player to take into his second season to begin to get it, especially given the weight loss situation last year.

He is getting some latitude from me.

Next year, while in his fourth scheme in four years, is when things really ought to pick up. <eye roll>

Wonder if his best position might just be 5-tech but I really couldn’t know. Someone named Bill just might.

I definitely noticed. Man was in the backfield often and beating his blocks. I just hope he can continue to do this moving forward.

I didn't want to start a new thread on Mazi so I will post some comments here.

I watched teh game a second time and I focused on two players every play they were in the game. One was Mazi. The other Beebe but I will comment on Mazi.

He was clearly better this week than he has been. One thing I noticed is the Giants were keeping 2 offensive linemen on Parsons. They didn't always double team him but there was almost always a second offensive lineman keeping an eye on Parsons if he evaded the lineman assigned to blocking him - at least that's the way it looked to me. This left Mazi one one one with the Giants OGs and C a lot. This is why Mazi was able to get penetration so often. By penetration I mean he shoved his guy a few yards into the backfield now and then. A couple of times he evaded the block and made a play. When he was double teamed he held his ground okay, but against double teams not many tackles are that effective all the time. Case in point. Beebe and Smith were double teaming Lawrence and a few times they buried him. It happens even to the best.

One thin I noticed though that Mazi has to work on is locating the ball and shedding his blocker. There were several times where he stood his blocker up and pushed him backwards, but when the ball carrier ran by him he didn't get off the block and make the play. He could have and should have. It looked to me at times he is so focused on the guy in front of him that he doesn't even look for the ball. Other times I think he just couldn't escape the hands of the blockers. I thought a few times he was clearly held but a DT has to know how to get off a block and fall into the hole before the RB. He is getting better so maybe he will learn this too.

Mazi for the first time showed some flashes of first rd talent

BUT he has got to show up a lot more

All we have seen is bits and pieces this year after NOTHING last year

Still at least we have hope now

With the current state of this defense one would hope this indicates he's turning a corner

Mazi and a few other guys needed a heavy of dose of Giants football to wake up. Lets see if he can put it together against a much better team.

It was great to see Mazi having a good game vs. the Giants. His play this season has been improving at a very gradual regenerative rate. Here's hoping it continues in the weeks to come. Perhaps the light has come on in his head and his body is reacting to the change. It's nice to see.

Oh...Mr. Expert Negativity is here.

He admits he didn't see the game....then craps on a great play anyway. He is consistent at least.
considering Mazi has ducked his whole career here, and this play is being used here as some kind of example of him turning the corner..

The center whiffed and Mazi is still slow off the snap.. there was nowhere to go here and it’s like using this play as an example of the defenses ability to stop the run..

We will find out this next dame if Mazi simply flashed something against a bad O line or has turned the corner and is really developing

one game does not a career make

at least now there is evidence he CAN do it
and that he WANTS to do it
now its a matter of him doing more of it consistently
