It would appear he is improving...although I also don't put much stock into their grading. They've clearly seen different things than me in regards to certain players in certain games.
PFF employs former pro coaches and scouts reviewing more than just the network telecast.

There a few positions where their grading should be taken with a grain of salt but DT isn't one of them. Their DT grading is spot on.

Mazi is playing better. Its always been a consistent effort problem with him which is why we never should have drafted him. He's never been a guy whose going to give you 100% all game.

I don't really care what PFF says. I can see with my own eyes he is improving. He isn't Jalen Carter, but if Carter got the kind of scrutiny Mazi gets, some people would call him a bust too.

I have mentioned this before but Landry said it takes 3 years for most defensive linemen to reach their potential. Mazi is getting better. Let's see where he is next year. I would still draft DL, especially DT, if the right guy is there when they pick, but it is good news when Mazi performs well.

Yeah,
It's still hard to find him winning a majority of his snaps over the course of entire games.

His performance expectation level is so low that only those rare positive LOS push moments he wins during the game are now lauded as noticeable improvement.

To each his own I guess.

I still see him as a JAG to less than JAG player myself.

If you look at what opposing running backs have done to the Cowboys in recent weeks; outside of that big 45 yard touchdown by Joe Mixon it hasn't been much. The running QB's like Hurts and Daniels have made the run defense look worse than it actually has been.

Mazi has been improving and has been doing his job. In fact I saw a video on YouTube that said Mazi's PFF grade the past three weeks would have him at 14 overall in the NFL had it been his overall season grade.

Not saying he's suddenly great, but it's clear he's playing a lot better.
Player development is not a switch that suddenly turns on. There is a reason why they constantly talk about day to day and putting in the work. We all know it takes time to develop DT.

He still has had some stinkers and repeats mistakes. This season makes it a struggle to keep an open mind.
It's all mental for Mazi.

The run blocking schemes/plays that get DTs moving sideways cause him more problems than straight-ahead power-man blocking...DTs can't move too quickly down the line but also can't move too slowly.

The Shanahan run blocking scheme seems to be his nemesis.

He will rise just enough to get a contract and then will flounder right after. It’s the Cowboy players way.

Using multiple different people from different backgrounds and levels of expertise to give their opinions on plays in the form of a score means what exactly? Spot on to what? The way you feel?
