Nope. But there has been some chatter on Twitter/X about Mazi Smith losing 30 lbs and playing closer to 290 now than the 330 he supposedly weighed when he was drafted. Has anyone heard anything about this?
This take is ignorant. Hill had a huge awareness problem not noticing combos from the backside and would get completely washed multiple times a game. Mazi at least can hold the poa.I am confused by this unless they are trying to salvage him somehow.
Even Trysten Hill was not this bad his rookie season.
Mazi and Schoon are rookies….and honestly the only reason they aren’t doing more is because guys in front of them are better. Taco was a bust. Those other two aren’t yet.Taco, Mazi, and Schoon. Stay away from high picks on Michigan players. It's not working out for the Cowboys.
That Tom Brady kid was not bad, Charles Woodson was pretty decent…these 2 weren’t great but they were serviceable…Outside of Hutchinson, U Michigan picks tend to be busts for sure.
Exactly. If the Cowboys knew Ferguson was going to be this good maybe they wouldn't have picked Schoonmaker. Then again Dalton Schultz did nothing here for over two years before emerging.Mazi and Schoon are rookies….and honestly the only reason they aren’t doing more is because guys in front of them are better. In defense of someonesHow did that Tom Brady pick workout for New England???????????????????????????????????
Maybe the weight loss wasn't intentional, the NFL season is a grind and Mazi is figuring out the conditoning. Regardless I think many had too high of expectations coming into the season for him. He was a late first round pick, playing a position that doesn't rack up a lot of stats. Why would they draft a 330 lb NT and then ask him to lose all that weight? Is this a Quinn thing? If so it is the stupidest idea ever.
I’ve thought the same thing and even mentioned this before. Mazi is now 3 technique size without 3 tech fquickness. His best chance to me is to eat eat eat, and put about 20 pounds back on before next season. Otherwise, he’s on track to be a total bust.Oh, no! Not another Mazi Smith thread, right?

It is not coming from ordinary fans either. It is coming from guys who regularly cover the Cowboys. The claim is the Cowboys wanted Mazi's weight down to make him quicker.
I said a while ago that Mazi is listed at about the same size as Hankins, but standing next to Hankins Mazi looks much smaller. The Cowboys website has Hankins listed at 6'2" 320 lbs. and Mazi is listed at 6'3" 337. To me Hankins looks like he is closer to 350.
Yeah I still don’t know why they didn’t think Ferg would be good but maybe they had higher hopes for two tight end sets at some point.Exactly. If the Cowboys knew Ferguson was going to be this good maybe they wouldn't have picked Schoonmaker. Then again Dalton Schultz did nothing here for over two years before emerging.
I know fans want instant impact from your early picks but the Cowboys' roster really didn't have open starting spots going into the draft in the first place.
That’s a recipe for disasterHe is getting blown out of the hole by a double team very easily and we have bell who weighs 215 behind him
Just word to the wise, Dallas and most teams put zero effort into accurately reporting player weight. It has no bearing on anything outside of the draft as weight fluctuates, especially throughout the season. 320 was Hankins combine weight 10 years ago… every team has just copied that number to his roster status throughout his career. He’s every bit of 340 if not 350. This team is so lazy with accurately posting weight they listed Bohanna as 360 (number Kansas had on him) despite his official combine weight being listed as 327. Mazi being 290 is just gibberish and probably agenda driven. They wanted him to stay around 325 which was his combine weight and not blow back up to the mid 330s he was playing at in college. It’s fairly obvious he’s around 325 give or take just on eye test!Oh, no! Not another Mazi Smith thread, right?

I think most on here forget he isn't playing the 1 tech.People smarter than me have the snap counts, but Mazi has mostly been playing 3 tech this year. Makes sense that he wants to lighten up.
I was just quoting what he said. He's never been listed at that weight so everybody's wrong coming out of college he was listed at 325 he did not gain weight you usually lose weight in training camp in practice and then getting playing time so he didn't lose 40 lbs it's possible he lost 20 if you believe what you hear there he was never that heavy...EVER!

I realize what his college stats say but ever since he was at the combine man here at the Dallas Cowboys complex he's always weighed 327 or under
his combine 323
