We were watching the game at a sports bar and there was no sound. Can someone tell me what possible explanation the refs gave for overturning the fumble McBriar caused on the returner. The whole restaraunt though hands down it was our ball - no brainer.

Slo mo replay showed:

1. The ball was clearly out before knee down.
2. Dallas gained posession.

What the hell???????

Left knee was down before the ball came loose. I was a few feet away from watching it in HD as well.

His knee was down but he wasnt down by contact and McBriar actually never touched him, just the ball.

The sports bar you attend needs new TV's.

Knee down, then fumble. GB retains possession.

He was never touched down though, McBriar only touched the ball (i don't care what the call was in the end our Punter forced a fumble and it was awesome :laugh1:)

unlike Felix who had the ball was touched down then had it come lose...

The call was blown. He was not touched down, and the replay clearly showed it. Add that to the blown call that ended the game when Felix Jones was down, but ruled to have fumbled and you have a case where some refs need a new line of work.

I think everyone is saying he was down because the announcers said so, but watching what they watched, it was to dark to overturn, so i dont know who got a flashlight in there to determine all of that, but someone did.

Read the rulebook, especially the part about down by contact.

The ball counts as the player in that instance. The second you touch the ball when it is in the arms of a player whose knee/elbow/etc. is on the ground, the play is dead

I'm not sure how I missed that - or the rest of the restaraunt for that matter.

Listen to the refs. Forget the rulebook. What the refs do in a game is all the matters. You think the league is going to call Jerry tomorrow and let him know the refs blew a call and we need to replay the game? No. The guy asked a question and all I did was say what the refs said. Blown call? Doesn't matter. What the refs do in the game is all that matters.

Maybe the worst reffed game I've ever seen.... If a team loses then they lose but to be beat by the refs makes me sick to my stomach...

You aren't making any sense. You insulted the poster, then when called on it because you know damn well what the rules are and that the call was blown, you retort with this? The guy asked a question, you insulted him, and now don't want to admit you were wrong on both the insult and the rules.

That is not what the NFL rule is.

I'll say it again...

The call was correct. His knee was down when McBriar touched him. Whether or not he touched only the ball is irrelevant. The ball is part of the player in that instance.

And for the record, I thought it was pretty clear that he made contact with the returner's forearm anyway
