I've spent enough time there getting to know locals to comment properly.

They are good fans. Capable of showing up and being loud....

BUT....they aren't gonna do it first to inspire a meh team over the top.

Once we start to prove to be real, they will be out in droves and we will hear the crowd.

Granted it took the early 90s version of that a little while to understand that we needed noise on defense, not offense but, I've been in a very loud and crazy Texas Stadium several times.

Apples don't fall far from trees, but there's also been 25 years of not so goodness.

The stadium is also not designed for crowd noise. I'd bet not a second of thought went into it when it was built.

Well 25 seasons of disappointment will demoralize even the most fiercely loyal fans. Add to the fact that Dallas is a see and be seen town and it's a perfect storm.

I'm not the fan I was 10 years ago. I can't name the entire roster like I could before. After a while the losing wears on you. And everyone seemed to be fine with it.

Agree but to be fair, cowboys fans have been considered more conservative since the 70's, for the most part.

We need more Crazy Rays in the stands.

The place is glorious....it really is....

But this team is going to have to win before the local general public is going to note it and support it in crazy masses....to where it becomes the place to be.

I’ve been saying for years that AT&T Stadium isn’t a tough place to play for the opposition. It’s a very inviting atmosphere and opponents seem very comfortable playing there. I remember how intimidating old RFK Stadium was. Fans would jump up and down shaking the bleachers. They really got fired up for the Cowboys. That was a terrifying stadium play in during the George Allen era in the 1970s.

even we were victims of major upsets to sub-winning teams from AFC West - Denver and LVegas on our home turf ....

It doesn't help that the team has been built around its O for years. You want the place to get loud? Give the crowd something on D to get loud about. They're supposed to pipe down when the O is out there.

But, yeah, the place is cavernous and the bowl isn't very steep. Makes it especially tough to fill it with noise.

I don’t remember Texas stadium ever being considered some massive home field advantage maybe early season with the sun and heat. The thing I really recall is Dallas area cowboy fan being rather spoiled by success and “needing” something to cheer for. Heck I got security called in me by some blue hair for cheering loudly on my seat in 04. I suspect today’s game will be loud and so should any home playoff game this season. It’s a different sense of hope this go round.

Privledged fans ....and it did depend upon what era, what Cowboys team .. as there were some hellraisers in the Jimmie era

But we have a re-tractable roof that is closed most times and its still nuthin in comparisons to KC or Seattle home teams ..... although it depends upon teams, win-loss

i heard one ex-Cowboy player say that Texas Stadium was a lot more calmer and hand clapping as compared to louder, prouder Cotton Bowl Stadium ..

It's like a player once said - Going to Jerry World was like going to Vegas, where Texas Stadium had a mystique, its where Rodger, Randy White ect all played.

Now I expect the whole Cowboy sideline to be pumping up the crowd. McCarthy seems like the best mind game playing coach since Jimmy. He just knows how to get the response he's looking for.
