Many have been wondering if or when we will hear word about the status of head coach Mike McCarthy. Given how Dallas was humiliated by the Green Bay Packers, many are ready to see the Cowboys make a change, but McCarthy has won a lot of regular-season games and been to the playoffs three years in a row.
That isn't what he was hired for. The roster is good enough to beat up weak teams and rack up regular season W's. They play WASH and NYG twice each year!!!

So is making the playoffs the new goal each year? It sure as hell better not be. We've done that. I thought MM was supposed to win in the playoffs also.

The Cowboys get the 1st place schedule next year. Jones better figure this out. Because making the playoffs won't be as easy. And no one wants to be kicked out of the wild card round AGAIN.

PFN is now reporting that Lurie is meeting with Sirianni tomorrow. So they likely are making a decision this week about whether to keep or dump him.

Meanwhile, our owner? He's probably waiting for all the criticism to die down so he can then pop up and tell us what a great job McCarthy did and why we need him back?

Nah.

Jerry is gonna keep him.
Thats what I think too.

I would have fired the entire coaching staff that night in the locker room. Would have also told Dak. Get ready for your last season in Dallas. Unless you waive your NTC this will be your LAST season with the Cowboys.

Then I would have put the coaching staff on blast and asked Lamb why he let Alexander punk him with no reaction, and why no one came to the defense of their QB when he almost had his head ripped off.

Would have then called them a bunch of gutless losers, and that all of them looking for new contracts better get real serious. No more podcasts, or twitter rants. Go play football.

The problem is.

Jerry has enabled this for so long, and the players dont respect him so it wouldnt matter.

Thats the culture HE has created.

Mike knew it was over the moment Dak threw that pick 6.

Nothing can save him.
Yeah you could see it written all over his face when they showed him during the game. It started with that first Green Bay drive for a TD. They got Mike just shaking his head. I think he knew then.

Interestingly, Belichick has interviewed with the Falcons but no deal. Could he sit out a year and return 2025, the same year MM deal expires? I'm sure there are only a few owners he's willing to work for.

As predicted , MM will just get a small talk and delay in extension of contract , and he will tell Jerry who he will replace Dan Quinn with . dak is extended 2-3 years . rinse and repeat . Am pretty sure Stephen has strong doubts about Dak since 4 years ago , but his dad is all in On Dak .
jerry is now in Al Davis delusional territory in full mode . He probably convinced himself MM and Dak are still his best option and the GB game is just an anomaly that is a bump in the road . If GB loses against the niners , the ugly reality of the cowboys loss will be magnified further .
dont see how next week beliceck or harbaugh will be available as more teams will make their moves.
Trading for Lance without consulting anyone suggests you're dead wrong on Jerry being all in on Dak.

Holding my nose, I just watched Mike Fishers podcast from this morning....he thinks that the so called "meeting" with the conman at weeks end could just be a show, and that Booger does NOT want to fire him.....we are screwed folks....write off next year....a if he extends Dork, write off the next 4 to 5 years....oh, and have a great day!!! :muttley:

We can't hire Belichek, he's fat and a large segment of this board has great issues with fat coaches.

The crazy thing is, Jerry had the opportunity to do just that before the playoffs and decided it was best to be non-committal publicly. He decided to answer reporters questions about McCarthy's job by saying we'll see how the playoffs go.

That was the time to give a vote of confidence. Maybe the team and staff don't come out as tight. Who knows? But, to wait until the bad feelings die down and then bring Big Mike back would be such a Jerry Jones thing to do.

Writing is on the wall. The fact no changes were made the day after was pretty telling. MM has one more year on his contract. Jerry will treat him like Garrett, win or be done. Dak will get an extension to lower his cap, maybe he gets benched for Lance mid-season but if he has the same kind of year during the regular season don't count on it. Groundhog Day.

You are simply tossing another season away if you bring back McCarthy and Dak.

Jerry is too arrogant and stubborn to realize that. Which is the irony in all of this. He's on borrowed time given his age so you shouldn't be tossing away seasons if you want to see one more SB before you pass.

But in keeping Dak and McCarthy, with the evidence we now have, you are simply just wasting another year of his life running this thing back.

#Punishment

I know everyone is anxious.

But have patience. Good things are going to happen.
There is zero evidence to suggest he's making a coaching change. We'll get a new DC and that will be what Jerry sells as the missing piece.

MM - Someone has to take playcalling away from him. And clock management. He is going to be stripped down to puppet worse than JG perhaps. If Shotty is still there does JJ give him a shot at playcalling and changing some of these plays. Get O-Line and RB in draft.

Quinn - I would let him go. His Defense gives up the run. Overshown and a healthy LVE would not have helped. Does anyone think a good DT would help. We can’t stop the run. And he brings no blitzes. Now teams have figured it out we will be selling out to the run. Diggs coming back from a bad knee injury, Get DT and LB in draft.
