RELEASED McCarthy out as Cowboys coach

I'm rather surprised this was the outcome after declining the Bears request it seemed to be an increasing probability he would be back.

However, I think this is the direction the Jones family ultimately wanted and they didn't know how to breakup, especially with some players expressing they wanted him back. So they gave it the old college try, went into it half-hearted.

I just hope Kellen Moore Isn't the target, or a buyout of Bill at NC.

..wow fellas, I'll be first to say Im disjointed about this. MM at least brought winning seasons here.

I have no faith, Jerry & Co will get someone better. ...sigh..
Like it or not, that should not be the bar with this roster. The Lombardy Trophy should be the mark.

LaFleur made MM look silly last year with a lesser roster.

No coach is going to sign for anything less than 3 years, unless there's a big payout invovled. Most owners accept that as the cost of doing business. As much guff as McCarthy catches, some of it warranted, no coach with an ounce of pride and any other option is going to coach for the Joneses right now. Low pay, terrible environment, and if the clownshow gets its way, very little future guaranteed $. Where else does a coach have to stop his weekly routine, and meet with the owners for their approval of the gameplan? Where else does the owner come into the locker room after every game to give you his state of the franchise speech?

Fact is, until Jerry & Stephen get a huge dose of humility, we're only going to get coaches who don't have any other option. The only time the old fool and his son went off-script, it was because they needed stadium financing.

I know Mike has been in the NFC north's division before, but that was with GB and A. Rodgers. I would think it's going to be difficult to face GB, Minny and Detroit 2 times a year. But, we'll see.

Next we'll hear that they interviewed Al Harris already and by Wednesday Zimmer will be in charge of the team
I’m good with Zimmer if he runs the show the way he wants. Bring in an innovative OC from the SF staff and it’s all good

Length of years figured to be a sticky point. Mike wants 4 or 5. Jerry wants 2 or 3.

A dumb reason not to keep the guy you supposedly believe in.
Jerry probably wanted to pay Mike $500 a win. Plus free parking. You just know the Jones' were lowballing McCarthy

Jerry is just trying to stay relevant.
This announcement came just as Mike Vrabel was being named in New England.
Jerry thinks a new coach will make fans willing to put up with Dak Prescott and his four year deal.
As long as Dak Prescott stays, nothing changes.

This - I'm all for any seasoned retread who is down to build the running game and defense back up.

AND probably the only way we have a chance of getting a young creative OC. None of the leading HC candidates with offensive minds are coming here, period.

he’s not a bad coach, but he’s also not good enough.

and that jerry is the biggest problem, is also true.

nihilism wins again.

See ya

He'll be talking to the Bears and Saints right away

Well you guys get what you wanted. Another head coach scapegoated and this one with a resume that very few of his era can match.

You have made your bed. Now you have to lay in it.

Seriously, I'll take your likes but you disgust me right now.
WR's, OC's, HC's...Dak's body count is reaching elite sniper status.
