Total dysfunction. After 5 years the front office still couldn't decide if they wanted him back. Then they decided they did but only at the last minute. Why wouldn't a coach or player wait till free agency especially knowing another team has big interest and you are likely landing a 5 year deal, probably earning more than your last contract. Why would anyone sign a short term deal here knowing the next 2 year are going to be really terrible, maybe longer.

Eliminate any former head coaches who will demand a big say and a voice in the room
Eliminate any of the hot coordinators that have interest with other teams

That leaves us with the re-treads who are desperate for one more chance to be head coach. Also, Most likely guys who don't have connections with the new breed of coordinators. It probably wouldn't matter anyway, because Jerry wouldn't pay for them either. So we get an old retread and the rest of the coaching staff will be a grab bag of B and C type guys.

Yeah, you either believe he's the guy or you don't.

That tells me they were viewing him more as insurance rather than a solution going forward.

I don't blame McCarthy for leaving if other teams are willing to offer a better deal.

I just assume Kellen cuz he knows Dak and Jerry and Stephen can push him around. Then they'll convince Zim to hang around "Cuz we value taht HC experience" bs they always say. The only consistent thing they do is make predictable decisions.


Anyone looking actually implement and run their own program - not coming here. Puppets interviewing would imagine. Oh and some token Rooney candidates - but Kellen is his second chance at Garrett imho.

I agree 100% and it was my first thought. But the Jones are afraid they’ll have to pay a coach it to coach so instead let the guy go you obviously feel can get the job done. Never ends with this clown organization.
