It’s going to be tough turning it around. We don’t have a power RB and or a QB who does as well seeing short field.

But I’d like our chances improving if we had a healthy OL.

The remark that caught my attention was "We have some strong feelings on things we know we can improve on." Makes ya wonder if there are unhappy players voicing their opinions.....we shall see if anything changed next Sunday

The hard part is scoring…

You were like that on third down, because you had Cooper Rush running a conservative game plan and not risking it. This is your 8 year QB that you inserted in the line-up after the Philly game, which then led to 15 picks.
I find it puzzling that some fans blame our Redzone issues on Dak and Mike by bringing up how great we were last year in the Redzone with Kellen Moore….but the funny thing is that we had the same QB in the Redzone last season. It’s always so easy to lay blame on easy targets. It’s much more complicated than that.

Same QB we had in Redzone last year, right?

People may not like Mike but he is about as good as we are going to get here as long as Jerry’s ego runs things.

There’s a lot to overcome here.

I noticed mike and other are not commenting on the lack of enthusiasm, and the fact they all looked like they had not slept the nite before, and just were not prepared in many ways.

If I was the hc, first thing I would do is figure out why they did poorly and then
figure out how to fix each issue.

Working harder or more doesnt help fix things, if your not working on the right things!
I might play rush this next game, rest dak let him have a week off, and let rush
get some work in.
If he isnt getting it done, let dak save the day. Rush needs work, and really any of these 1st 4 games was a good time to get him some work and keep him ready to go.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy: "We will spend more time on red zone this week. That's just the way I've always done it. When things aren't right, just work harder at it and spend more time on it. It's Week 3 and we know what our numbers are. We were last in the league on third down a couple weeks into it last year, and that turned out pretty good. We're not going to overreact to it. The most important thing is we're getting down there more than anybody. We lead the league in 10-plus (play) drives. We're moving the ball. That's the hard part. We have some strong feelings on things we know we can improve on."

this is where we miss Zeke but we could use the rookie to pound the rock inside the 5.

Was Dak and MM the scapegoats or was Moore per the Dak fanboys? I think the anti-Dak crowd said that Moore clearly is not the problem..

What if, and believe me this is hypothetical...

We actually use our FB in the red zone? Maybe line up in the Power I formation and just pile drive into the end zone? Or hit him in the soft spots that Witten used to find since he has good hands? Or hand him the ball directly since he can run with power?

Would that do anything for you?
I'm glad the Cowboys took the advice of the two Bobs. That is what consultants are for!

McCarthys play calling indicates he does not trust Dak. Either way, you got the 49ers, Chargers, Rams and Eagles up. Not going to beat any of these teams when your the worse redzone team in football!

You will need more than a healthy oline you will need to score Tds if you want to compete with juggernauts 49ers, and Eagles. Throw in Chargers and the rams over the month don't see many if any wins with this red zone offense

You mean to tell me after all these years of being an OC, Mike doesn't already have some highly-effective play designs for the Red Zone? What the hec did they hire you for??? For your impeccable game management? Because you're a fantastic leader of men?

There are no
Magical plays. Its about oline and running the ball down there.

Actually, there are some plays they can use that feature more motion and interesting formations, to keep the defense off balance. The standard runs won't often work in the Red Zone due to all the congestion, unless a team has an offensive line that is DOMINATING the LOS. That's rarely the Cowboys lately, so McCarty needs to get a bit more creative, and Dak needs to get better at execution (more accurate passes, and better reads).

The O-line can't turn into something they are not simply because they're in the Red Zone. They are who they are. So help them out with creative play designs, even in the running game. Run out of formations that the defense hasn't seen before or something, or use the jet sweep motion and run behind it or hand it off to Turpin or Cooks on the jet sweep. Fake it to Lamb, and get it to Turpin on a screen on the backside. There's plenty they could do, which should be plays the defense hasn't seen before in the game.
