Bring Maher on for a long fg, and if he misses give the ball to GB at the 40 with this paper defense? Or if he makes that fg, Rodgers against these posers on D needing a td?

nah, Big Mike was thinking td the whole way. He rightly didn’t trust this run defense or his 4th and 5th corners

I didn't hate the call vs a long field goal. That whole drive I was thinking I hope this doesn't come down to a long field goal where we miss and lose the game. It's not easy to hit those long field goals in colder weather and we saw a lot of short kickoffs today. I think McCarthy understands those conditions better than anyone.

I do have a problem with the play call though. You figure they would get pressure and where's your shorter routes for quick throws. There was nothing there.

They miss that FG from 54. I have no problem with going for it in that situation. The defense has to play ball, too.
Oh that's cool, Nostradamus. I didn't know you would've known that outcome. Can the Cowboys hire you?

then make Rodgers go down the whole field and score a touchdown. Not get the ball within striking distance.
Exactly! Them missing the long FG and not getting it on 4th down was the SAME OUTCOME FOR GB.

If he went for the FG and Maher missed, he would be criticized for kicking the FG. Even if he kicked the FG and made it, he would be criticized after Rodgers marched right down the field and scoring a TD, which is exactly what woul d have happened if the Packers needed the TD.

Normally, I would have kicked the FG there, but with Rodgers as the QB, I would try to win it before Rodgers could get on the field. We all knew if the Packers got the ball back they would score. McCarthy knows Rodgers as well as anyone.

I would have called a different play there. They needed a quick pass for 4 yards to sustain the drive. If it wasn't there Dak should have tucked it and run. But getting 4 yards on a 4th down is a tough thing to do anytime.

can't do that in a place like lambeau and win.
gotta be clean.

Been watching football 51 years and that was the single dumbest decision I have ever seen. Hands down, there is no justification, no logic that can counter this stupidity. As soon as I saw them going I shouted McCarthy just lost this game single handedly

He is the buffoon people were calling him in his 1st 2 years here
He hasn’t wavered from his analytics. Didn’t hear anyone complaining when it worked the first two times tonight. Typical hindsight second guessing couch coaching.

The call was fine. Just about even w/l by going for it or kicking

The offense has to execute

Yes, the defence was worn out and wasn't making stops. In my view, I think the decision to go for it was correct. It didn't work, but it's the correct call imo. If you kick the FG, Green Bay likely scores a TD with how our defence was playing. So, trying to get the first was a good move imo. Plus, he'd been doing it with regular success up to that point. So, the trends were in his favour as well. Just unlucky with the poor execution of the play.

You did see Green Bay get down to the 10 yard line to simply decide they were close enough to kick a field goal right? Seemed like McCarthy knew we weren't going to stop Green Bay so 3 points wasn't really going to cut it.

So tired of these analytical buffoons....If your going for it....fine. 2 running plays to gain 4 yards...very doable. Instead...we force feed crap into coverage. Dak is always late with his throws...allowing the defensive backs to get back in the play.

It's a constant problem...and it's because Dak is a slow processing QB.

A FG wasn't going to win this game. The defense couldn't hold a 14 point lead in the 4th and we saw how easily GB moved down the field for the GW field goal.

Do you really think they couldn't have punched that in for a TD, if they had to?

Dallas had to score a TD on the opening OT possession. It was their only shot.
