It's not "all" about downfield throws but it's an awesome weapon to have in your arsenal. QBs like Rodgers and Wilson at their heights were excellent downfield throwers and because of it, they were never out of any game they trailed, even by multiple scores. You don't have that confidence here and this is a decent reason why.

Not talking 20 yards that the stats tell you is a deep pass, I'm talking bombs like Carr laid on us yesterday. Quick strikes like that are devastating to a defense. If you can't put that kind of pressure on a defense then you are limited. And we are. Have said we needed this for years. Are we good enough without it?
Deep balls just don’t happen as frequent as you guys think. As a matter of fact I can’t recall the last time a team just ran past our safeties for a deep pass. It’s not smart football when everything underneath is there. The further the throw the riskier the pass.

Deep passes don’t open up running 3 yards a carry.

This is the best we can do, we had to dumb it down, these are the plays that Dak are most comfortable with so that's why we only do these
What a dumb post. You have no idea because you have never seen the Cowboys playbook to make a claim that it’s being dumbed down. Before you make a dumb claim that I’m a Dak lover I’m not but I’m not a hater of Dak either. And you want to be a moderator, gee what a dumb idea. Please give your thoughts lmao

Again they were wasted on Jerry trying to strike gold and spend no draft capital on a QB, while paying non drafted guys and 4th round picks the largest contracts at the time. Jerry is desperate to prove he is a QB guru.
Get over your Dak hatred already. Dak wasn't the reason we lost yesterday. If it hadn't been for the 1st interception happening due to Jalen Brooks falling down (that drive would have stayed alive and most likely scored more points), Dak's passer rating would have ended around a 90 with over 300 yards passing and possibly another TD. The problem was once again a lack of a running game, our receivers failing to get open, our Oline struggling to open running lanes or sustain their pass blocks and a putrid defense that couldn't stop anything (6 Saints drives in a row that all ended up in TDs and didn't force the Saints to punt until the 4th quarter).

It gets tiring having to repeatedly explain the obvious to posters like yourself who insist on being stubborn and place blame only on the QB just because he is Dak Prescott.

I hate to say it...

McCarthy's offense looks like the NFL has passed him by.

Elliot may be the best RB on the roster. What a failure that is.

We don't have a true #2 WR, and offensive scheme isn't helping one to emerge.

We really don't seem to have much of a "running scheme".

We have to use WR's to attack the edges in the running game, our RB's aren't capable of doing it.

Cooks and Turpin lack vision as runners.

From what I could see on gameday film, our LB play was lousy, filling the wrong lanes, jumping in the wrong gaps, lack of awareness in their zone drops.

Despite the supposed pressures, I didn't think our pass rush was all that great last week against backup OT's. It didn't look any better this week. But, we couldn't stop the run either. And, it wasn't close.

Our O-Line needs to improve. There are signs of disaster lurking.

We look good enough to go on a big winning streak during a softer part of our schedule. But, I don't think these things go away. If anything, they get harder to cover up.
It's not McCarthy. Please.

It's the quarterback. How many playcallers and years does he need? You do know that NFL quarterbacks constantly change plays at the line of scrimmage.

Linehan, Garrett, Moore, McCarthy.....the only common element is Dak.

He's just a very limited quarterback who peaked years ago.

STHU. Patrick Mahomes was dinking-n-dunking all game long to a total of only 151 passing yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs and a passer rating of 80.6 against a Bengals defense that is not as good as the Saints defense. I don't hear anyone criticizing Mahomes for his poor performance which his team carried him for a win. That's because Mahomes has more and better weapons at WR, TE and RB.

What weapons does Dak have? Only CeeDee. Our RBs aren't good enough, our Oline stunk and couldn't get any push or open any holes or pass protect. Our stud TE didn't play due to injury. His backup was average at best. CeeDee is our only weapon at WR.

Not even Patrick Mahomes would have succeeded playing with this Cowboys offense today. Dak is not the problem. Get over the blind hatred already.

Mahomes won a Super Bowl with no names at Wr but has a HOF TE. He has earned the respect 3x over, Dak hasn’t.

Oh so now I’m an Eagle lover. How did you come to that conclusion? Is it because I pointed out how dumb your post was and yet you follow up with an even dumber one.

No ........ the Defense absolutely sucked yesterday ....... and Dak was mediocre giving the ball away 3 times.

It gets tiring having to repeatedly explain the obvious to posters like yourself who insist on being stubborn and place blame only on the QB just because he is Dak Prescott.
This is such a full of crap statement ........ I defended Dak for years on this forum ....... but after 9 years it time to face the facts that he is a problem in high pressure moments.

Cowboys fans’ biggest fear is not that the team’s high paid quarterback is a problem. It’s what if he isn’t.

No, your feelings are a problem dealing with facts. Dak didn't give the ball away 3 times either. Why lie?

It is hilarious to me how you can make this list above and not comprehend this is all a GM problem.

McCarthy's offense has passed him by because he does not have a RB. Does not have a WR2. His starting TE did not play.

What is more hilarious is GM Jethro thinks this is a SB team.

Throwing 3 different rbs out there isn't a good plan.

You need a primary ball carrier who can actually get into a rhythm and find some momentum.
Eerily familiar to when we traded for Amari. This team has always been most successful when they have a bell cow RB.
