I see incessant claims of how good McClay is at drafting. Starting this offseason, we will see exactly how good he is. We desperately need D help, and we need it yesterday. So, what's going to happen? More CB's and WR's and TE's?

If he's as good as some claim, then it's time to show it.

When it comes to McClay, the scouts, coaches or anyone else associated with drafting, I think it’s safe to say that they are lousy when it comes to evaluating and drafting defensive players. It has become even more apparent the last 10 years.

You mean we haven't seen it.....I mean our fans are truly the worst at times lol. Disregard all the picks and Aonly Focus on the "bad ones" lol

We have been having D drafts for the last few years. It has resulted in nothing. I am starting to get off the McClay train.

McClay has had success here creating the board which is extremely difficult to do with such a hands on owner like Jerry.

McClay has missed before and will miss again in the future. Dallas has consistently been one of the better drafting teams though that reputation has taken a hit over the past couple of years.

We never get full access to the draft board but McClay is not a concern of mine

It’s interesting. Overall the offensive drafting has been excellent.

But the defensive drafting has been awful.

So many 1st, 2nd and 3rd round outright busts on defense. That’s why the defense is awful right now. You have like 7-8 guys who were drafted in the first 3 rounds who are giving you little to nothing.

Last 5 years:

Mazi
Sam Williams
Diggs
Kneeland
Liafau
Gholstob
Wright
Kelvin Joseph.

That’s 8 players drafted in the top 3 rounds in the last 5 rounds who are giving you little to nothing right now.

Overshown and revel are hurt. So there’s still hope for them. But if they don’t do something that makes it 10.

Imagine if half those players hit and were producing right now. The defense would be completely different.

Those picks in April better be DT, MLB, S, DE. CB ETC... Will McClay should be on the phone with Pickens agent as we speak, keep the offense potent and then build your 2026 defense. It is a common sense approach.

The only person who kisses Jerry's arse more than Michael Irvin ........ is Will McClay

Yeah, but around here, we have this paradox where you can't grade a draft until 3-4 years later, and by that time, the damage is already done, and then you have to wait another 3-4 years. It has been 3 decades now. Other teams are able to rebuild multiple times in a single decade, but somehow, we aren't. This is what happens when you have an unqualified person pretending to be GM part time.

The team wouldn't be in such bad shape if they didn't ignore free agency for the better part of a decade. The draft is a total crapshoot. Free agency is, to a lesser degree, because you have seen the players in the NFL. You hedge your bets in the draft by doing well in free agency.

He sets the board, gives his recommendations but in the end Jerry makes the picks. Go back to when Manzel came out and Jerry had to be talked out of taking him
Y'all still believe that story? If Jerry wanted Manziel we would have had him. Probably would have traded up to do it too. Jerry played that up for the press the same way he's been doing many things over the years. Got excellent pub from it and gave the draft heads something to hype up while we were on the clock. One hand washes the other.

Oh, Jerry will give up the second 1st round pick to move up and grab a "war daddy".
