"But then knowing that you have (Ezekiel Elliott). Zeke is still a premier back in the league. When you talk about short-yardage running, goal-line running, some of the things where we had problems, he gives you some of those answers. Plus his intelligence, helping the offense and doing those sorts of things. That’s a vet player that you get there."

Please shoot me now.

Not buying what he's selling about Zeke and I've always been a big Zeke fan. He is a role player best fitted in a platoon role.

What really stood out was this quote: "(We’re) building a roster a little bit differently than going out and spending money." Lol...Jerry and Stephen Jones refuse to build via draft, trade AND free agency. They want to win their way and it hasn't worked for 28 years.

McClay on Guyton.

"His athletic ability and his toughness. (Sometimes), a young guy coming into the league, and something happens, and you’re being told you have to start, you see nerves. But he doesn’t. He’s going to go attack it. Some good, some bad, he’s going to attack it 100 mph. He’s got the feet and the ability that you look for in a tackle to be able to do it. But this is a determined kid. And him next to (left guard) Tyler Smith, that’s a nasty left side."

-

On Kneeland.

"True pro as a young player coming in. No. 1, he’s violent. He’s physical, (and) he plays really, really fast. He has really, really good football instincts. And he’s got some humility, so he’s around the veteran guys and some of the guys we’ve added. You watch him soak it up and then be able to apply it. It’s a unique thing for a young player to do at a high level. And like Guyton, Sam goes down, you’re going to have to play more, he didn’t even blink an eye."

-

On Carson.

"Just his competitive toughness. He says about two words, and then he goes out and practices, and it’s nothing. Another one of those guys who’s not afraid of anything. He wants to line up against the best guy. He’ll jump in against (Brandin) Cooks and CeeDee, and he’s extremely physical. There’s a lot higher ceiling to him because of the way he played in college and the way he has to play now, it fits his skill set even more."

-

On Rockport.

"Nobody likes him. What kind of Cowboys fan quits and moves to Hawaii?"

Zeke is definitely a team guy; a great locker room guy. But he’s past his prime. As it was said earlier in the thread, he’ll get ya that short yardage TD or that one or two yards needed for a first. But he’s no longer a second level threat.

Wait….this is our executive vice president of player personnel?

Shouldn't be a surprise. For whatever reason, he's touted as some draft genius. All he does is hit on some 1st round picks, which all franchises can do. But he falls extremely flat after round 1. But circling back to round 1, he has way too many misses. 2017 - Taco when TJ Watt was there. 2018 - LVE. The whole 2023 draft was trash, including round 1 - Mazi. He's not the only problem of course but he's part of it. Mediocre drafting leads to spinning your wheels and instead of your 1st rd picks of 2017, 2018, 2023 being key contributors to your roster, we are now drafting to fill their holes because they didn't pan out. The circle of mediocrity.

He’s basically saying he’s still a premier short yardage back lol. Good for a yard or two. These guys are hard to find, great job McClay and Jones boys for finding that elusive short yardage back to be your starter.
So glad we weren't interested at all in Henry or Barkley to jump start this run game. We got Rico Dowdle and Zeke. Yeah!!

Among so many other things, Jerry Jones is a master of gross exaggeration.
So much so, that it bears all the appearances of BS. He's a real kidder. :omg:
