McClay: Zeke is still a premier back

You guys have it wrong. Read what he says again. Zeke is a premier short yardage back. Quite frankly, I have to agree with McClay here. Zeke might be the best short yardage back on an NFL roster. Of course, he might be the only short yardage back on an NFL roster but lets ignore that and focus on Dallas owning yet another position. . . . SYB.

No, he said that among doing other things…

To be honest. Having a “short yardage running back” is so overrated. On short runs it’s way way more incumbent upon the OL.

Zeke is good at short yardage runs, don’t get me wrong. But he just shouldn’t be on a roster anymore.

If they really believed in him bring premiere, he would have gotten only a 1 year contract and he would have had multiple suitors…

Anybody who is being open minded and trying to remove their bias, knows that Zeke is only on the team because the Jones’ like him.

He doesn’t really belong on an NFL roster at this point. But the Jones just like to be comfortable. They run an NFL team like a small family business. Hiring their friends or people they like.

Good news is the games are starting and quotes are remembered, so we'll see.

Maybe they did it for Dak’s comfortability.. that’s the only logical explanation

If Zeke was the answer on 3rd down and short yardage, we would never have let him go. Granted, the O line has shared responsibility in those failures. I love Zeke. The Zeke I saw in NE lost at least 2 steps
I don't think third down and short yardage were the problem. Dallas was paying him top back money and wasn't getting top back results out of him. Pollard was doing better during games and the front office had to decide who to pay as the top back.

I love Zeke as a player.
If you need a yard, he'll get you a yard.
If you need 5 yards, he'll get you a yard...lol
But, I still like him. Dude got a raw deal early on.
I wouldn’t go that far. I saw a few runs last season on a bad New England team with no QB where he was able to squeeze out 2-3 yards when there wasn’t anything there. He’s still able to fall forward when you need a couple of yards to move the chains. If he stays healthy, he’ll be better than what a lot of fans think he’ll be. If the OL has improved it will certainly help him.

McClay isn't stupid. He knows the best path to job security is echoing what the boss thinks.

And he knows Jerry loves Zeke like a fat kid loves cake.

He might be a premier short yardage or goal line RB.
He might be a premier pass protection RB.

But he is not a premier starting RB.

He can be good in the redzone and goal line.
He was not a productive runner for yards the last time he was here
however he was did score TDs in the redzone/goal line.

He is no longer a starter. He is a situational player now IMO.

It was a joke, KJ.
I'm a big fan of Zeke.
Even forced myself to watch 4-5 games of that
awful NE team. (so odd to type that...lol)

Zeke is fine if it’s situational, but if he gets the bulk of carries………then we have a problem.

That's essentially what he was saying.
