So, if Murray is gone, who gets the bulk of his carries?

Just thinking outloud,

Randle (assuming he isn't in Garrett's/NFL's doghouse) around 5-7 carries a game? So that's about 80 - 112 carries a season.
R Williams around 3-5 carries per game? So that's around 48-80 carries a season.
Quality Rookie RB, around 15-18 carries a game? So that's around 240-288 carries a season.

So totalling that up, 368 - 480 carries a season.

Of course, this does not take into account Murray's pass receiving skills, pass blocking and familiarity with the offense.

And the market has been set.

No it hasn't
McCoy had been a top 3 RB for several years, has a very different running style and does not have a history of going injured every single year in college and the NFL

Murray is injured every year, every year, has been great 1 year, runs to contact and does not have breakaway speed

If McCoy gets 8/ yr Murray can have 5/yr

I mean the 8M AAV and the guaranteed money.

We offered Murray 4/16. Shady is getting that entire total this year. LOL

I'm willing to bet that $16M first yr salary helps the Bills with their 89% cap floor spending, and it's why they front loaded that contract like that.

Spotrac has the signing bonus @ $13M, so after two years when the Bills probably have paid out all the guaranteed money they are looking at $7.8M dead money.

The cap hit for this season is reportedly about $5.6 mil.

McCoy was supposed to get almost $10 mil this season to being with... The Bill just added some bonus money and lengthened the contract in order to:

1. Soften the cap hit for this season.
2. Get him to agree to the trade.

I don't see this as the definitive contract for setting Murray's price.

The Bills had their backs against the wall on this one. They had to negotiate from a position of weakness.

Jerry has to be kicking himself for not getting a deal done on Murray before these deals got done. Price has gone up for sure. It may be too high now.

I remember Mickey Spagnola saying A few weeks ago that Murray is gonna find out that there isn't alot of money on the market for a rb anymore. He thought the deals that Toby Gerhart and Rashad Jennings got which was like 3.5 million was it and thought Murray should be happy getting 4 million per. Boy have times changed. Smh

Murray: "That's the market. Pay me that."

Cowboys: "That's why Buffalo sucks. Enjoy Jacksonville."

I think the new management in Jacksonville are pretty savvy.
But they do have a ton of cap space that they must spend, so you never know.

All the tweets I see are saying $16M first year, so I'm taking that as base and prorated bonus.

Paying Murray anywhere below 6-7 Mill per is ******** and insulting. When it's all said and done he's gonna get close to 8.

The price for Murray just went up.the longer the cowboys drag their feet. the higher the price is going to get for guys like Murray and Dez.

For Murray most definitely (and personally think it works out for the team in that it looks like thier hands were forced instead of looking cheap. But outside of Thomas, who could set the new rate for Dez considering Fitz is taking a pay-cut? The tag this year may make him demand more in the future, but the tag saves the team money in the long run, esp considering the team maybe stuck in mediocrity for awhile either way once Romo calls it quits (which most predict @ 2 more seasons @ most; otherwise he would have been restructured this off season.

It depends on what Murray was asking

This deal could affect it some, but I don't see the Cobb or Ingram deals hurting us at all.

I think if Murray's gone we'll go with a quality draft pick, Randle, and Williams.

Recent FA periods are bringing up to different spectrums for teams that are paying for a franchise QB and those that are not.

Just because one franchise decides to bankroll their RB doesn't mean another has to follow suit because the "market is set".

Their are different markets and circumstances for everyone.

Spags has lost a few brain cells over the years. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding says that top flight backs are getting well over 4 million per year. Gerhart and Jennings are scrubs compared to Murray.
