Spags has lost a few brain cells over the years. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding says that top flight backs are getting well over 4 million per year. Gerhart and Jennings are scrubs compared to Murray.

Quit worrying about whether Murray stays or goes... In the end, it's up to him whether he wants to be a Cowboy
or take the money and languish behind some nothing line. There are at least 9 RB's in the draft this year who
could eventually replace Murray and we have RB's that can share the load until we develop a new bellcow.
No need to get panties in a wad.

People mention the 4year/16M offer to Murray like it just happened... this offer was Sept/Oct of last year... so just stop please.

The great Randle/Williams/rookie lineup will not approach the 360-480 carries this year... but Romo will most certainly be
back up to 550-650 pass attempts which also means ints will be up as well... and the haters will wonder why is he throwing
into coverage on 3rd and 12 or worse.

We will look more and more like the 80s Chargers... score 30 points a game and can't stop anyone.

exactly, that is why you build thru the draft,,,,Dallas already has 3 players counting over 50% of there Salary Cap, Romo, Carr, Smith then add Dez just not cost effective to pay 8-10 Mil for a RB

Murray: "That's the market. Pay me that."

Cowboys: "That's why Buffalo sucks. Enjoy Jacksonville."

Ehhh....Jacksonville actually isn't in that bad of a situation as they have been in the past. They have a lot of young talent there.

All the tweets I see are saying $16M first year, so I'm taking that as base and prorated bonus.

Here's the deal:

"McCoy gets a $13.125 million signing bonus and a $2.625 million salary for 2015. Coupled with a $250,000 workout bonus, that’s $16 million in year one.

Next year, McCoy gets a $4.8 million salary and a $250,000 workout bonus. In 2017, the salary moves to $6 million, with a $250,000 workout bonus. In 2018, the salary becomes $6.075 million, with the same workout bonus. In 2019, the salary is $6.175 million, with the same workout bonus.

Notice that the salaries don’t spike on the back end. That increases the likelihood of McCoy finishing the full five years.

The cap numbers are $5.5 million in 2015, $7.675 million in 2016, $8.875 million in 2017, $8.95 million in 2018, and $9.05 million in 2019.

Of the $40.05 million contract, $26.55 million is guaranteed. $18.25 million is fully guaranteed at signing; that comes from the signing bonus, the 2015 salary, and $2.5 million of the 2016 salary. The rest of the total $4.8 million salary becomes fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2016 league year."

Yes but you fill up holes and depth in the draft. This team already has a few holes and have limited resources to fix those holes. To let Murray go and then create another hole? I'm not for it.

Cowboys have given out bad contracts in the past. Murray out of all of them is probably the most deserving. He was the best player at his position last year. You can debate whether or not Dez was. But there's no debate that Murray was.

Yes, Jacksonville is on the rise... it won't be long before they become a "tough out" in the NFL... not sure if they'll be championship
material in Indy's division, but they will be competitive in a couple years.

Its not about the most deserving, or the most loyal... the Cowboys just can not pay every player who has a big year what they are worth on the open market......and be competitive....Teams that pay the big bucks for FA players are ususally middle of the road teams trying to win FANs support to build a stadium, owners trying to sell the team.....Championship teams no how to manage the Salary Cap...and build a team

Recent FA periods are bringing up to different spectrums for teams that are paying for a franchise QB and those that are not.

Just because one franchise decides to bankroll their RB doesn't mean another has to follow suit because the "market is set".

Their are different markets and circumstances for everyone.

Agree big time and this is getting lost a bit. Franchise QB, top 3 WR, top 10 TE, three 1st Rd OL come to mind as variables to whether an organization should pay any RB over 4/yr (if that);) Too much in one direction...salary could be used on a defensive player that is sorely needed to improve the talent on D.

But they don't have this line. Murray will be a 900 yard back there.

I've feared that it will take a deal close to this one to keep Murray. It's just too much. Scale this back to 16M guaranteed 30M for five and we can talk.

With the cap floor, teams are going to have to pay someone, and it might as well be someone who can sell tickets like McCoy. I'd be a little surprised if he lives up to this deal, and he might have less tread left on his tires than Murray. As big of an OU/Murray homer as I am, I don't want to see Dallas devote that kind of $$$ to a RB...

Sucks because I don't think a rookie is likely to come in and be reliable enough in the passing/blocking game to keep the offense balanced in the way it was this year. I just don't trust Garret to stay committed to the running game without Murray.

My hope at this point is that we bring in Ingram and he carries the load. Randle isn't going to be the guy, although Ryan Williams has an outside shot.

ThAts too much too,I wouldn't give Murray anything above 10-12 million guaranteed money.

The other thing about RBs getting paid now is that a trade for the Vikings looks a lot more possible. That contract is less than Lynch's. So we're probably not getting AD.

Buffalo paid three "Taxes" in this deal, which amped up the numbers...

The first was to get him to accept the trade.

The second was to get him to renegotiate in order to get to a lower cap figure.

The third was to offset New York State income taxes.

The Bills had to overpay and I think it has little relevance on any deal Murray gets.

So McCoy actually took a pay cut to insure himself a lot more guaranteed money. He is going from 3/31m to 5/40m.

I don't know why they are describing the signing bonus as first year money, as if it's his salary.
