McDonald from 49ers arrested on domestic violence charges

Lol and I just saw a "praise McDonald" thread on the 49ers forum yesterday.

The next time someone posts something taunting they will be benched. There are no sides here just Cowboys' fans.

Whatever happens if it is going to effect week 1 it probably has to be Harbaugh-led.

I expect Goodell to lay down the 6 games but after appeal that may not take effect til week 3 or 4.

Much like Dallas with Brent/Ratliff/injuries, we'll now test just how good SF is at building a DL....
The penalty may be harsher than six games:

Roger Goodell letter to NFL owners

<snip>

Finally, and consistent with our Personal Conduct Policy, our own response to domestic violence or sexual assault incidents by NFL personnel will include new elements of evaluation, treatment and family support, as well as enhanced discipline. We will address these issues fairly and thoughtfully, respecting the rights of all involved and giving proper deference to law enforcement and the courts. If someone is charged with domestic violence or sexual assault, there will be a mandatory evaluation and, where professionally indicated, counseling or other specialized services. Effective immediately, violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense, with consideration given to mitigating factors, as well as a longer suspension when circumstances warrant. Among the circumstances that would merit a more severe penalty would be a prior incident before joining the NFL, or violence involving a weapon, choking, repeated striking, or when the act is committed against a pregnant woman or in the presence of a child. A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL; while an individual may petition for reinstatement after one year, there will be no presumption or assurance that the petition will be granted. These disciplinary standards will apply to all NFL personnel.

SAN JOSE -- 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested for domestic violence early Sunday morning in San Jose. Police arrived at McDonald’s home at approximately 2 a.m. where a party was being held in honor of McDonald’s birthday. He turns 30 on Tuesday.

McDonald apparently got into an altercation with his fiancee, whom a police source said is pregnant. When she showed police bruising on her neck and arms, McDonald was arrested. News of the arrest first was reported by NBC Bay Area.

Other 49ers were present, including tight end Vernon Davis and defensive end Demarcus Dobbs. McDonald was booked at 5:30 a.m. in San Jose for “inflicting injury on a spouse or cohabitant,” according to the Santa Clara Department of Corrections. Bail has not yet been set.

McDonald was arrested for DUI in Santa Clara County in 2010...

Oh well, team mate witnesses.

Niners pass rush is looking less scary each day. They still have Tank though (for now), but I think he might be all hype thus far.
If Romo, Lenehan, and this vaunted offensive line don't pick them apart, Romo will start the season off on my list. I know what he's capable of doing. No excuses.

Ray McDonald was the one that cracked Tony's ribs the last time they played.

@Chocolate Lab was right, these guys are headed for a "down" year though.

I wonder if Harbaugh will get a pass because of his turnaround of the team when he took over?

Another plus for us when we play them ... their minds won't be right.
Man, if we don't win this game, I'm going to be highly upset at some Cowboys.

Big talk from a coach who has Perrish Cox on his roster.
Timing may be a factor. The alleged sexual assault happened on September 2010. Harbaugh inherited Perrish Cox when he was named head coach the next year (2011). Harbaugh may have built reasonable doubt of Cox's guilt by the time he took the job. That assumption may not have lessen after Cox was found not guilty in March 2012.

This game is pretty important. It will set the tone for a team that doesn't really know what they are.

.... and that's exactly what Jason should be telling them. SF couldn't be serving it up better.

Men who hit on women don't have the mental capacity for critical thinking.

Perhaps

I just think the recency of the new rules would serve as a deterrent to some extent.

Beyond that however it was more a statement about putting yourself in the position to be accused of hitting your spouse, whether or not those accusations are true.

Not saying anything about the facts of this case, just a statement in general.

You are right about that - if - he stays true to his word of "no second chances to anyone who lays their hands on a woman."

We shall see.

And if McDonald did actually do what he's accused of.
Seems like that's the case up front, be we do not know that yet.

Harbaugh will cut him.

Harbaugh and the general manager already don't get along. The GM almost traded Harbaugh after some good seasons. It wouldn't be too much of a surprise if the GM ran off Harbaugh after a bad year especially since Harbaugh will only have one year left on his contact after this season.

If the Cowboys don't beat the Niners they are pathetic.

We are world beaters now?

Our offense was always going to be fine. No matter who we play.

The question that will inform our success this season is what can we do on defense when scheming against an opponent?
