McDonald from 49ers arrested on domestic violence charges

With the recent incident involving ray McDonald and domestic violence, I have to ask. If the 49ers release him should the cowboys kick the tires on him for all the d-line help we need?

Also just to add an additional cavieat... If McDonald was comparable talent wise to Michael Sam... Would you rather have McDonald or Sam?

No, absolutely not. I'd rather have Michael Sam, because he's a law abiding citizen.

Absolutely.

Because this team cannot have enough players sitting out for drugs, slapping their wives or girlfriends and injury.

Jerry can include that list of players that didn't make a contribution from sitting out in his letter to the season ticket holders as to why he is increasing the prices of seats.

That and the fact Jerry wants to be your partner in reaping that profit when you sell your seats to a fan of another team.

Also this situation is going on the assumption that McDonald WOULD NOT be suspended. I tried making an edit to the OP but 5 minutes had passed.

Whatever happens if it is going to effect week 1 it probably has to be Harbaugh-led.

I expect Goodell to lay down the 6 games but after appeal that may not take effect til week 3 or 4.

Much like Dallas with Brent/Ratliff/injuries, we'll now test just how good SF is at building a DL....

I don't think he will appeal. Just like with Smith, because of the length of the suspension, it would be better to serve it early and get it out of the way. Then, in the second half they can be close to full strength and make a run.

He will be out a minimum of 6 games....probably longer since hitting a pregnant woman was specifically cited as a reason you could get more than the 6 game minimum.

He won't be a Cowboy.

And frankly has much bigger issues to worry about.

SAN JOSE -- 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested for domestic violence early Sunday morning in San Jose. Police arrived at McDonald’s home at approximately 2 a.m. where a party was being held in honor of McDonald’s birthday. He turns 30 on Tuesday.

McDonald apparently got into an altercation with his fiancee, whom a police source said is pregnant. When she showed police bruising on her neck and arms, McDonald was arrested. News of the arrest first was reported by NBC Bay Area.
Hell of a way to celebrate your birthday.

I think he may be gone for about 8 games, pregnant, bruising around the neck, and first case under the new rules. Goodell is going to drop the hammer on this guy, he will be an example, and a make up call for ray rice.

Which makes this thread insane.

California Penal Code Section 242/243(e):

242. A battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.

243(e). Yeah potentially going to jail...pretty big deal. i agree.

We are world beaters now?

Our offense was always going to be fine. No matter who we play.

The question that will inform our success this season is what can we do on defense when scheming against an opponent?

Truth about the O, I'm with you. I'll also put down $20 that our D will not be as bad as last year. I'm not saying we'll be top 15 or anything. But that alone, and the Niners whoa's should get us this game next Sunday.

Another plus for us when we play them ... their minds won't be right.
Man, if we don't win this game, I'm going to be highly upset at some Cowboys.

I hope you're right my friend. I think we can score 24 plus not sure what we hold them to

With the new policy in place just a few days ago, oh you better believe Goodell is probably licking his chops with this guy.

Probably, but Goodell will still let this play out. It will take some time before any suspensions are handed out. The Rice incident occurred in February and it took months before the league suspended him.

Only thing I'm worried about are their receivers ... because I ALWAYS worry about our CBs.

I think that this secondary is solid...and they should be growing once everyone is back on duty.

My top three picks in the draft for next season, would be a defensive end, a linebacker, and a safety.

Are we talking about the same secondary who can't guard a receiver without holding or interfering? Oh I forgot about getting burnt. They haven't practiced all year so I haven't seen anything different. They have to show me. Haven't seen it.

Most of those were a flag happy referee group, and the younger players trying to make plays...using bad technique. They'll learn, and there will be an up-in-arms if the referees throw as many flags when the opening whistles blow for real.
