News: McFadden broke elbow in home accident *Update post 169*

RB coach Gary Brown: "He was trying to keep his iPhone S, his brand new one, from hitting the ground and cracked his elbow,"

Garrett: "It's hard to explain that. I'm sure he didn't think the choice was, 'OK, I'm going to keep the cell phone and break my elbow.' I think he probably thought he could make the play. I don't know much about it beyond that."

So either nobody talked to him personally to get his version of the story or something is not right.

Could be a combination of the stories. He slipped near the pool, had his phone in his hand and tried to keep it from hitting the ground.

If he told management that he didn't want his cell phone to get broken, it could have evolved into he was trying to save his cell phone, which would certainly be true but not the whole story.

I think his point was that he slipped so it wasn't like he was diving to catch his iPhone. Most likely he was trying to protect it from hitting the ground as he fell, which caused him to hit the ground with his elbow instead of catching himself with his hand.

He also tried to hide the injury and get to work......that way he can fall at practice and still get paid....sneaky sneaky not telling the team for 2 weeks.....

Darren McFadden: Injury from slip near pool, not from dropped cellphone

A broken elbow will keep Darren McFadden off professional football fields for at least the bulk of summer, but it didn't keep him from a group of 150 elementary and junior high school students at a Little Rock Air Force Base practice field in Jacksonville on Thursday.

McFadden, with his right arm in a brace that ran from armpit to wrist, moved with ease through the heat and across the crowded turf.

An All-American running back for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2006 and 2007, McFadden, 28, is preparing for his ninth NFL season. He played for the Oaklawn Raiders from 2008-2014 but had his second-best season in the fall with the Dallas Cowboys.

"I got a few weeks left in this brace, but other than that, my body feels good," McFadden said. "I feel great, and I'm looking forward to the season. I'm ready to go."

McFadden (Pulaski Oak Grove) said reports he broke his elbow after he fell in an attempt to save a dropped cellphone were untrue. He said he was in a friend's backyard after a funeral and slipped on cement near a swimming pool.

"I just slipped down and landed on my elbow," he said. "My phone was in my hand, and so people kind of put that story out."

Isn't this how OJ got started down the wrong path?...Just flat out lieing????

There was an incident in college where he said he kicked a curb in anger outside of a bar and nearly lost his toe. This is a pattern. I don't believe his stories this time.

Yeah, he's very similar to OJ Simpson. I totally get the connection.

As my Dad used to say: "You must be outside your mind!"

Yup.... But some here will say that was such an honorable manly thing to do. Quite the contrary actually.

the guy was what, 4th in the league in rushing last year and all of the "time to move on" crap from people is amazing to me...not to mention that the two months he will be out are june and july...plus, he was working out with it (likely can keep some cardio going, just can't take hits)....I'd say it is time to move on from the "get rid of him" crap...my God....

Blah blah blah. Cry me a river. He's a flat out liar & his status on the team is in jeopardy.

Too bad Zapruder didn't film it.

Dude, you hate you some McFadden...

Everyone wondered why I hated Randle so.... Then reality smacked us all in the faces. All but McFadden... He's apparently not a member of our human race. That might explain the disproportionately thin leg thing.

Right. Except he went through an entire OTA with the injury. Ya think if he was trying to pull something it maybe would have been then?
