Spags this morning said that he broke the part of the elbow where a ligament is attached.

It was just a matter of time. Sucks for him and hope he has a quick recovery but with his history it was bound to happen at some point.

well at least it wont be hard to move on now from him.
this team has 8 and 8 written all over it lol.
it wont really matter much now because he wont make the team or will be traded. Elliot is now the starter for sure
like lots of other things they put out I'm not buying what they are selling as far as him breaking his elbow that way.
Please stop trolling.

the guy was what, 4th in the league in rushing last year and all of the "time to move on" crap from people is amazing to me...not to mention that the two months he will be out are june and july...plus, he was working out with it (likely can keep some cardio going, just can't take hits)....I'd say it is time to move on from the "get rid of him" crap...my God....

Darren McFadden: Injury from slip near pool, not from dropped cellphone

By Pete Perkins Special to the Democrat-Gazette

This article was published today at 5:45 a.m.

A broken elbow will keep Darren McFadden off professional football fields for at least the bulk of summer, but it didn't keep him from a group of 150 elementary and junior high school students at a Little Rock Air Force Base practice field in Jacksonville on Thursday.

McFadden, with his right arm in a brace that ran from armpit to wrist, moved with ease through the heat and across the crowded turf.

An All-American running back for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2006 and 2007, McFadden, 28, is preparing for his ninth NFL season. He played for the Oaklawn Raiders from 2008-2014 but had his second-best season in the fall with the Dallas Cowboys.

"I got a few weeks left in this brace, but other than that, my body feels good," McFadden said. "I feel great, and I'm looking forward to the season. I'm ready to go."

McFadden (Pulaski Oak Grove) said reports he broke his elbow after he fell in an attempt to save a dropped cellphone were untrue. He said he was in a friend's backyard after a funeral and slipped on cement near a swimming pool.

"I just slipped down and landed on my elbow," he said. "My phone was in my hand, and so people kind of put that story out."

Only question I have is why has the narrative changed?

Even Jerry Jones had this to say:

“He’s such a pro and has gained the respect that I take him just as he said it, that phone had to be saved. I accept that,”

So it was not the phone, did Jones speak to him about it or just going of reports?

RB coach Gary Brown: "He was trying to keep his iPhone S, his brand new one, from hitting the ground and cracked his elbow,"

Garrett: "It's hard to explain that. I'm sure he didn't think the choice was, 'OK, I'm going to keep the cell phone and break my elbow.' I think he probably thought he could make the play. I don't know much about it beyond that."

So either nobody talked to him personally to get his version of the story or something is not right.

Maybe it's just me and that's fine.it wouldn't be the first time. I don't see how it's possible, short of diving forcibly into the concrete. If I bobble my phone, I'm sorry, my natural reaction is NOT diving for it like I'm Dez Bryant on a 3rd & long.

Why didnt he just use the old stand by excuse of getting hurt playing basketball?

Probably his contract. Most have language like this written in:

3. OTHER ACTIVITIES. Without prior written consent of the Club, Player will not play football or engage in activities related to football otherwise than for Club or engage in any activity other than football which may involve a significant risk of personal injury. Player represents that he has special, exceptional and unique knowledge, skill, ability, and experience as a football player, the loss of which cannot be estimated with any certainty and cannot be fairly or adequately compensated by damages. Player therefore agrees that Club will have the right, in addition to any other right which Club may possess, to enjoin Player by appropriate proceedings from playing football or engaging in football-related activities other than for Club or from engaging in any activity other than football which may involve a significant risk of personal injury.

Good point.

Would you agree that believing he hurt it going for his cell phone is akin to believing that McClain missed practice because of spending time with his kids?

I actually buy the kid thing more. Not as contrived.
