That was a killer. 10 minute opening drive and get inside the 5 and shotgun, no back set?? And then 3 points? Reminded me of JG calling plays.

In all fairness, Dez got hugged on that thrid-down. The PI on Cromartie, though he did grab the WR, was probably more of a make-up call for that.

Ok that response tells me all I need to know.

The dregs of the nfl dumped him when he, if he could have, would have dumped them. Go it.

Next you are going to,say how well the other running backs were in Oakland when they opted for them over DMC? It's called the HAMBRICK EFFECT!

Don't be fooled.

McFadden thread is up, with pictures.

The problem there was throwing the ball six straight times in the redzone. That's a fundamental issue this team has, even last season with Murray. They rely on the pass in the redzone a little too much.

Can't remember if they ran a lot of play-action or not that drive. I know they passed to the backs a few times, but not sure if the dual threat was established on their play-calling.

So McFadden gets excuses for his poor play (dating back 7 seasons) but Randle doesn't get excuses after one game as a starter where he significantly out played McFadden? OK then. You're clearly unbiased.

And yes, guys like Forsett exist. However, for every Forsett there are probably 100 players that don't change their stripes on a new team.

The difference between you guy and me, is I want them all to be good. I accept that Randle can and will be better. I hope that McFadden can really show. I am even enthusiastic about Dunbar and Michael. You guys, on the other hand want to see "the new shiny toy" as so perfectly put in this thread. The grass is not always greener.

MacFadden does not get any excuses at all. In fact, none of them do. However, in MacFadden's defense, he hasn't been here for long and is not that familiar with the plays. We can't say that about Randle. Randle needs to do more than what he shown during that game. Like I stated before - 4.1 yards per. carry is not going to cut it and we need a better performance from him.

I'm really not sold on Randle just yet. His knock was he was too easy to tackle. As we all saw in the Giants game there were many times he was arm tackled. I saw that also last year from him when he did relief work for Murray. Thus, I'm not sold on him just yet. I didn't think he did anything special running the ball and I'd like to see more from MacFadden - who looked better and faster despite only 6 carries.

We have contributors at HB. However collectively they weren't impressive running the ball. 3.5 yards a rush is just not going to cut it. Its one game so its not like anything is set in stone. But it ks disheartening that we made a very bad run defense look good

When Marion Barber III was the 3rd down back he made a lot of plays on passing downs and playing against tired defenses. Jerry signed him to a big extension and made a first down back - and I said at the time it was a mistake. It was.

I'm not down on Randle but I see him the same way, a very good 3rd down RB but a guy who isn't a #1 and will wear down if he has to stay in that role. I would give DMC a lot more carries than he got this week and over the course of the season I think all four RBs on the roster are going to have to split the carries for this team to do well.

I thought the same thing about Barber. That was a "what you did for me" contract instead of a "what you can do for me" deal. That was standard Jerry.

You could be right about Randle. I don't think there is a feature back on the roster at the moment and I think the staff knows that. I just think Randle is the best bet to be successful over the long haul while getting the majority of the RBBC carries. That said, I admittedly have not seen a lot of Michael, so the allure of the unknown is there. He has a blend of Randle and McFadden in him.

As you said, what we have is the epitome of a committee, and I think that's just fine. I am sincerely not worried about the running game, if I was it would be more to the lack of Dez and the Leary injury, than the runners on the roster.

Totally agree, I would have taken Buck Allen in the 3rd (my mock was Ajayi in the 2nd... oops) and thought for the rest of the offseason the team would end up trading for a #1 type back. Where we are at the moment is a committee like you say, I think over the course of the season all three RBs will get their carries and Dunbar will contribute like he did Sunday.

I'm the reverse of you on Randle and DMC, I think Randle is best when used the way he was last year. A big part of the season will ride on the production we get from the committee, regardless of who gets the most carries we need the production.

Offense looked fine...

Receivers catch the ball and don't turn it over they win buy double digits.

Running game didn't impress, though. We'll see this week.

The first drive that lasted 10min was because of the perfect mix between the run & pass, imo they could've ran left when they got down to the 5 but chose not to.
