Before I would trade either of our RBs I would soup up the OL and re-evaluate.

I will admit McGahee is certainly tempting.

Some of the stuff here is laughable. McGahee is a very solid back and a real workhorse. BUT he is not particularly explosive- I think that is the permanent result of his injury. And to say that JJ does not have a quick first step is a joke since he had the fastest 10 and 20 yd time of all the backs at the combine. He had a 4.38 40. Now its clear that his top sustained speed is not great- so the only way he could have such a fine 40 time is by being very fast off the mark.

why is everyone so in awe of McGahee?

he has one season in which he rushed for at least 4 yards per carry, seems to be in the same league as Julius

just good enough, nothing special

lol anybody thinking jones or barber are in mcgahee's league are out of their minds and should be shot.

Couldn't agree more. Plus I'd like to have a back who can go out and catch a pass in the flat. Jones can't. We have to bring barber in for that.

McGahee would be a big improvement over Jones, like it or not.

How bout this, let me phrase the question this way............

If we had drafted McGahee, would you trade him to Buffalo straight up for Julius????

Hell no you wouldn't and you know it.

It looks like he is going to cost more than a 3rd round pick. Although this is pure speculation at this point.

McGAHEE TO RAVENS TONIGHT OR TOMORROW?
A league source tells us that there's a good chance that the Buffalo Bill will trade running back Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday night or Thursday.
Per the source, there are a couple of other teams still in the hunt for McGahee. As of now, however, the Ravens are at the front of the pack.
Also, a reader tells us that there are reports on Sirius NFL Radio that such a trade would entail Baltimore sending a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Buffalo.
If the trade happens, Ravens likely will be signing McGahee to a long-term deal. Based on recent contracts, McGahee could get $20 million in guaranteed money. (Ray Lewis will be thrilled with that.)
Meanwhile, the Bills are looking for McGahee's eventual replacement. Chris Brown visited Buffalo on Wednesday, and Corey Dillon is up next.

Over on a Bills forum it's being reported as either a 2nd & 6th or a 3rd & 5th. Either way, it's too much.

yes, he has special talent, but up to date, besides those few flashes, he's nothing special, a good back, but that's it at this point

Depends whats on the board. He is a far better back that Jones. I would try Jones and a 4th round pick. Try him out for a year. If he pans out, then try and resign him. I doubt he will get the contract he is expecting unless he rushes for 1,500 yards next season.

Yeah... without a doubt... he is better than Julius... just think what a McGahee/Barber combo could bust out... the guy has moves...

he's better than McGahee, but because McGahee plays for somebody else, the fickle folks believe he is an awesome player

nothing new here

McGahee has really had the benefit of playing around greatness at QB...I mean Holcomb and Losman are who teams look to shut down first and foremost, McGahee is an afterthought.

Yeah...that is sarcasm above.

I am not banging on JJ, I like the guy...I still think Barber should be the starter though.

If the Bills offered up McGahee straight up for Jones I would do it in a second, to say otherwise is being a homer.

I don't want the guy...he is the Shawn Kemp of the NFL, but he is talented and if the Ravens get him they have an instant upgrade over Lewis IMO.

If Magahee was as good as anyone thinks he is Mike Shanahan would have done the trade by now, instead he signed T. Henry.

Shoot, McGahee is the best running back in the NFL!!! I know I've heard this, now who was it that said that? ;-) That's right, he did.

Honestly, for a third, I'd take him. More solid RB than Jones IMO
