McNabb-"Black QBs get criticized more than White QBs"

Not to defend McNabb, but I'd really like to hear what he said in the context of the interview and not just speak on a one-liner posted on the 'net. Then I'll prolly have more informed opinion about it.

As a black man, who was immensely proud of Warren Moon entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame along side Troy Aikman, I am sick and tired of McNabb's public displays of weakness. A number of black quarterbacks worked hard and silently to give him the opportunity of leading a franchise to four NFC championship games and a Super Bowl appearance. How does he express his gratitude?

Whining.

While his accomplishments are inspiring future young black quarterbacks looking up to him right now, his whining isn't a good example for them to follow. He needs to get a grip. Maybe what's needed is a can of Campbell's Chunky Soup shoved up his

Surprised this wasn't posted today-he said this in an interview with Bryant Gumbel.

I think there is some truth to that, black quarterbacks are expected to be VERY GOOD. You really can't be a AVERAGE BLACK QB because it's just not accepted. That's the way it's always been. QB's like Doug Williams, Byron Leftwich, and Akeli Smith were CUT because they didn't live up to that expectation that most organizations have for black quarterbacks. Blacks quarterbacks are expected to be mobile and if a white QB is mobile that's considered a bonus. Sad but true

ALL National Football League starting quarterbacks are expected to be very good.

And how Doug Williams ended up in that comment, I'll never know.

And so are white QB's if your not winning and producing fans will boo you and the media will question you. Troy Aikman won 3 SB rings yet he was booed towards the end of his career. This crud about black QB's is a cop out fans don't care about the color they care about the production and these Philly fans sang the praise of McNabb bought his jersey the media loved him but when you start playing bad you will feel the heat no matter who you are or what color you are.

Why are we still preceding "QB" with a color ?

He is 1-6 in his past 7 games, .. expect to be booed and have your performance questioned and disected.

Like Charles said, "That's just the way it is."

Well explain to me why these white QB's are still employed in the NFL

Trent Green
David Carr
Eli Manning
Joey Harrington
Rex Grossman
Chad Pennington
Kyle Boller

Wasn't that from an interview he did w/ Gumball 3-4 years ago, when all the mess between him and Owens was on the front-burner?

As a member of the human race, so am I. Color don't mean a darn to me and it shouldn't to anyone. Those that it does, need an education.

Like Rush Limbaugh pointed out, It's the truth. I'm not making a big deal about it but from watching the NFL for 20 years you are able to see that's the case.

I was hoping the 2 incredible African American coaches leading their teams to the Superbowl last year would stop this nonsense.

Yet when McNabb starts losing and getting booed the first thing he does is play the "Race card"

He is an embarrassment.

So is McNabb, So is McNair.
Eli is still a young QB that NY has invested big money in they have to ride with him
Harrington came to Alt as a backup and only took over because of Vick and who is Alt talking to right now? You got it Leftwich (Black)
Rex is catching all kind of hell in Chicago with fans wanting him replaced but Lovie Smith is staying with him (Black coach)

So please stop the BS and the whinning about Black QB, you produce and the fans will love you. You fail and they will be all over you no matter who you are.

You want to list some comparisons of unemployed black quarterbacks to that list?

Because 6 of them were 1st round draft picks and Trent Green has had some extremely good years in KC not that long ago.

And why is Eli even on that list? He just lit us up 2 weeks ago.

If McNabb thinks he has to go through anything like Doug Williams did ..... he is an idiot.

Dumb*** McNabb.

But this thread looks to be an interesting one. I will stay tuned.
