And in one of those seasons, he returned following a broken ankle to take his team to the NFC championship game.

4 of the last 6 years his team made it to the NFC championship game -- clearly they won't do that this year. But let me ask this. Would you like a QB who led you to 12 post-season games since 2000?

How many post season games have our QBs led us to in that period?

Sure I would. But I would rather have one finish the job. If we make it to the NFC championship and get no further what does it matter? You play to be number one in the NFL last I knew. Every thing else is fluff.
Whats Payton manning worth if he never wins a SB?

How would you folks rate our chances if Romo went down? McNabb is not perfect, but he IS a good QB. He has been injury prone now for a few seasons and that means Phiily must come up with a decent backup for him so their season doesn't go down the tube if he gets hurt again. It's hard enough to have one good QB much less two.

It seems to me the Eagle organization (and I think this really means Andy Reid) must come to grips with getting a running game. The best way to take pressure off of the QB is with a consistent running game. I like Westbrook but a complementary power back with their OL should not be that difficult to find.

All of their other choices seem a lot worse to me.

Are you finished spouting off ...I do read Eagle message boards, I'm very active on Eagle boards than you'll ever Know. Also, I wish I did have "my own" radio stations ...I'd have you as my first guest. We'd have a great discussion, and then I'd surprise you with McNabb as my surprise guest!;)

Although the analogy you used about Romo doesn't quite describe the situation (largely because if Romo did ever go down, you still have Bledsoe),
I agree with getting a Power back for a new Eagles run game.

Most eagles fans are jumping ship on their franchise QB .....

But then again noone ever said most eagle fans had any class.

Are the Eagles grooming any young prospects? Not being a smart guy, I really dont know. With McNabb being injury prone the last few years I can't see how they aren't.

The idiots who think McNabb isn't one of the top QB's in the league never cease to amaze me....yeah, they are much better off now with Garcia and Feely.

There are probably only a few QB's in the entire NFL who could have taken that Philly team and receivers to the NFC championships he took them to.

PT...it was a sad day when McNabb got hurt, because as you and everyone else know, injuries suck!

But, things are not going to change...not with the owner and coach of your team...

If McNabb would have gone to a quality organization, chances are that he would already have a ring, maybe two!

Your team can get the most POWERFUL running back in the NFL...but, if the coach don't use a running attack, the what?

Blame fat Andy for all that! McNabb can only do so much...!

Where the whole thing in the NFCE went wrong for the eagles is when your team brought in the west coast offense...and that is fat Andy, period!

The Cowboys, the RedStinks, and the eagles used to be a power running team...not anymore...for your team...and that is why the eagles are irrelevant!

Could you imagine McNabb with a running attack? Could you imagine him using a style of smach mouth football, like they used to do? And him doing just enought to do what he does best?

If McNabb had gone to a team like that? He would have a SB ring today!

Until the eagles go back to the NFCE style of play the they are know for...your team and your "fandoms" are irrelevent!

Look at the downfall of the 49whiners for evidence!

You can't afford to build an offense around one player and have that one player get hurt. Manning, Brady, Tomlinson... the list is short.

IMO, McNabb's best days are probably behind him . . . . He's already peaked. That doesn't mean he still can't be effective, but I don't think he will be able to carry the team on his shoulders any more.

The Eagles should invest in a top quality RB to take pressure off McNabb. I like Westbrook, but he's not an every down back.

Hopefully, as a Cowboys fan, the Eagles continue their current ways and don't get McNabb more support . . . . otherwise, McNabb could actually get the job done.

Well, the eagles have Garcia, at least he has some experience...?

However, the way they play football, Garcia might get jacked up too?

The eagles rely on the QB to much...and that is the West Coast offense...and that does not work very good in todays game...

what YoMick is basically saying is that Mavericks fans should hope Dirk Nowitzki gets injured for the season because he's our franchise player and has gotten to the playoffs numerous times and even the Finals, but hasn't won. The Mavericks would be better off without him.

wow.....

I think Mcnubb was a little overrated but that doesn't mean I don't think he's a good player. I think he is and he is a good guy, I appreciate that.
(although I never want to see his mom make a tv commercial again)
Philly has brought this on itself to some extent because they have made Mcnubb their centerpiece and refused to put much of anything around him other than a good defense. Then, their centerpiece gets hurt and the season is automatically lost. The front office is to blame IMO. Maybe Mcnubb lacks a some confidence and adding playmakers around him makes him feel threatened I don't know. But whatever the reason, Philly put ALL of their eggs in one basket.
I certainly don't like to see any player injured and esp one of the good guys like mcnubb, but other than that, I can say that such a debacle couldn't have happened to a classier fanbase ;-)
If there's one city that deserves to have their teams fail miserably every year, its that place.

Of course, when your main man has a 110 mil contract, there's not much left to pay much of a supporting cast. Like it or not, the Eagles are stuck with McNabb for a few years until his cap hit comes down a little, so they're going to have to make the most of it.

I can't believe anyone would say they are better off with McNabb gone. The guy got a team with marginal offensive talent deep into the playoffs over and over again. He's been one of the league's top QBs over the past 6 years. I hate the Eagles, but you have to respect McNabb's accomplishments.
No, it was an stifling defense that got them that far. It's the same reason that the Eagles went 4-1 (a botched field goal away from 5-0) when McNabb was out during the 2003 season. That defense was dominant, and it was constantly handing the offense field position at mid-field.

Regarding the original article, I disagree on two counts. First, McNabb was NOT having an MVP type season. His numbers looked gaudy after wins against the 49ers, Texans and Packers, but since then they have stunk. Second, I think if Feeley takes the reigns, Reid may run the ball more and they have a chance to upset several of the teams remaining on their schedule. They are probably an 8-8 team, but if they can steal a win against either the Panthers or Giants, go 9-7 and get the 6 seed.

Edit: McNabb and the Eagles opened the season against the Texans, Giants, Packers and 49ers and he had 9 touchdowns, 1 interception and a 59% completion rating. In the last three games, only 2 touchdowns, 1 interception and a 49% completion rating. MVP? Hardly.
