15. San Francisco 49ers - Trae Waynes CB Michigan St.
16. Houston Texans - Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma
17. San Diego Chargers - Todd Gurley RB Georgia
18. Kansas City Chiefs - Cameron Erving C Florida St.
19. Cleveland Browns (Buffalo) - Ereck Flowers T Miami
20. Philadelphia Eagles - Landon Collins S Alabama
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Andrus Peat T Stanford
22. Pittsburgh Steelers - Arik Armstead DE Oregon
23. Detroit Lions - Malcom Brown DT Texas
24. Arizona Cardinals - Bud Dupree OLB Kentucky
25. Carolina Panthers - T.J. Clemmings T Pittsburgh
26. Baltimore Ravens - Jaelen Strong WR Arizona St.

27. Dallas Cowboys - Eddie Goldman DT Florida St.

Analysis: The Cowboys addressed their pass-rusher need by signing Greg Hardy, and DeMarcus Lawrence should also help in this area if he's able to stay on the field for a full season. Goldman doesn't offer much in terms of getting to the quarterback, but he's very stout against the run and will make Dallas stronger down the middle of its defense. The Cowboys could look to add a running back to pair with Darren McFadden following the departure of DeMarco Murray to the Eagles, but they can address that need on Day 2 or 3.

28. Denver Broncos - D.J. Humphries T Florida
29. Indianapolis Colts - Eli Harold OLB Virginia
30. Green Bay Packers - Marcus Peters CB Washington
31. New Orleans Saints (Seattle) - Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest
32. New England Patriots - Byron Jones CB Connecticut

Either Marcus Hardison - ASU or Gabe Wright - Auburn in the 3rd round have more upside than Goldman in the 1st.
Melvin Gordon or Kevin Johnson in the 1st in conjunction with either Hardison or Wright in subsequent rounds adds better overall value to the roster.

I think they would take Johnson over Goldman. Will be interesting if either come in for a visit.

I like Goldman a lot, but he doesn't seem like the type of DT you're liable to see in a Rod Marinelli defense.

Once again, the Cowboys won't draft Goldman. He's a part time player in this system aince he can't rush the passer effectively. He may play 40% of the snaps. It's not happening and frankly I'm annoyed seeing him mocke to us so often.

that's because guys like McShay and Kiper know players and not team scheme's.

You would think that since mocks are what you think a team will do, and studying the draft year round, they would at least have some concept of scheme fits and team philosophy.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And they know nothing of the priority the teams put on certain positions.

That's why Kiper always has us drafting a safety - and we never do - while McShay has us drafting a 1-technique defensive tackle - and we never do.

Yep and then they take that into their draft rankings which throws their whole process out of whack.

Would anyone be upset if we traded our 3rd to Detroit to move up and get Bud in this scenario? I would seriously consider it.

I'd be upset. We will be in striking range of OO , Kevin Johnson, or Kendricks. We don't need to move up one bit in the first for a third.

BUT I'd be looking into getting another 3rd by bundling a few of next year's picks.

We will have more cap room that next year so we can afford a few FA to fill the holes from the year's draft.

How can any kind of football "expert" NOT know the basic philosophies of all 64 pro coordinators, much less the basics of iconic schemes like the Tapa Two?

I prefer Goldman over the cornerbacks.

The dline needs another DT.

A run stopper can be found cheaply in FA or later in the draft. Why waste a premium pick to fill one of the easiest, cheapest holes to fill with a part time player who can't provide pass rush? The guy would sit in nearly every nickel package which was over 60% of the snaps last year, and still need to come out for rest. I doubt he would play more than 30% of the snaps here.

If I'm trading up with Detroit, its for M. Brown. He's a 1T here, but would play on nickel downs. He provides pass rush to be an every down DT here.

It would stand to reason they would, but by the way a lot of mocks go, I find myself questioning how much they really put into knowing NFL schemes or types of players they look for. IMO, that should be the basis for a mock. It seems like they do a big board, see what holes an NFL team has and then plug players in from their big board.
