ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay recently joined DAC, Dennis and Cowlishaw on 103.3 FM ESPN. Here are some highlights:

What the potential drop off could be from top prospect Myles Garrett to other pass rushers in the draft the Cowboys could target like UCLA's Takkarist McKinley...

McShay: Well, Myles Garrett is 6'4", 6' 4 ½", 272 pounds, and he's a little bit more fluid and athletic than Tak. Tak is faster. Tak has exceptional speed, and when I watch him on tape, I see a guy who has some tightness, but he explodes off the line. He's only 6'2". He's only 250. And like I said, 4.59 was his official [40] time at Indianapolis, but I don't know that I've watched a player that I've enjoyed more all year long in terms of effort and just sustained intensity for four quarters like I did with him. I just loved watching Tak McKinley. So, his hand usage isn't quite where it needs to be, and I think if he figures it out and develops properly, he's got a chance to be really good...I don't see him busting, let's put it that way, but I don't know if 6'2", 250 is what you're looking for as a defensive end in their scheme.

...Derek Barnett (Tennessee) probably is going to go in the top 20. He fits more of the bill, could be a 3-4 outside backer, could be a 4-3 defensive end. I think Taco Charlton is probably more of an ideal fit as a 4-3 defensive end from Michigan - 6'5 ½", 277 pounds - but he doesn't have the speed and explosiveness that some of those other guys do. So, it really comes down to what [the Cowboys] are exactly looking for. Are they willing to give up a little bit of size in order to finally get that guy who is a terror off the edge?

I will say it right now. I don't want McKinley.

The injury is one thing. The other thing is I don't see him being able to be more than another DeMarcus Lawrence.

If we go DB in the first I'd expect a move up in the second.

This is my fear,I think they will desperate for a good De and will be forced to move up and last years run on DEs wont help matters wither.

All of those bottom of the first round DE's seem very Demarcus Lawrency.

I'd much rather draft a solid DB then a solid DE and I think the DBs will be of better quality anyways.

None of them are worth multiple picks.

They used 2 premium picks on Lawrence though so it wouldn't shock me if they did it again.

If we move out of our pick I want it to be backwards and acquire more picks.

The DBs are about the same way. They are all about the same in terms of value. What is there at 28 is going to be the same player you can get in the second.

Honestly, I am to the stage where if Burnett and Harris are gone, I want to bail out of 28 badly.

The DBs are so tightly bunched that it is not likely one will stand out among the others.

McKinley reminds me of a guy we already have on our roster in Tapper. Not to mention, I think Tapper has lost some weight and could even be quicker at this point. I'm in the glass half full crowd with Tapper and Smith so...

Charleton, Watt and Willis seam a little stiff to bend the corner quick enough, but maybe they can work on it and get better under Marinelli...who knows. Watt seems like the best candidate of those three.

I believe Harris played in the 235-240 range at Missouri, so when he bulked up to 253 for the combine his numbers were bad...go figure. I think the speed he showed at the combine is what you'll get as an edge rusher at 250+.

There's no chance of us drafting Garrett, Thomas or Barnett and I just don't like the idea of Basham at 28. I have Basham, Harris, Rivers, Willis and Lawson all in the 2nd round.

So, this leaves Bowser as the most intriguing prospect left (at least for me) for that edge rusher at 28. Bowser has enough size 6-3 250, arm length 33 1/4, can bend quickly with a 6.75 cone and can burst out of his stance with a 1.59 split.

Right now, I think Bowser is the 4th best edge rushing prospect and wouldn't be upset if he was our 28 pick....but will he even make it?

Lattimore, Conley, Humphrey, King...I don't think you can get a CB = to them at 60. Maybe 40-50, but I think at best we're looking at Q Wilson or Witherspoon where we pick. Of course that's just me guessing and anything can happen, but I don't see a long list of CB's that are close to the top 4 I listed. White, Awuzie, Tankersley, Adoree, Moreau. Those are the guys I would say would be better value at 60, but I don't see any lasting. Perhaps Moreau depending on his prognosis from the pec injury.

And I'm surprised you're a Harris fan. He's on your short list at 28?

I just wonder the utility of spending 28 on a CB in this class. There is not going to be a player there that is significantly better than someone you can get at 60 unless something weird happens.

The pass rushers and corner class will play off each other in this draft. No doubt.

The depth of the corner class should make teams "wait" but the pass rushers might not be as strong at the top as needed to avoid a run.

Will be interesting to see what side of the fence has more rabid dogs on it.

Not really a Harris fan. Just better than some of the alternatives.
