yup. announce it and move on. he had 100 chances.

not like garrett expected the question to go away and jerry was eventually going to answer it if garrett didn't.

smart move by jerry really.

gets attention off romo missing next minicamp... for today at least.

How anyone thinks this is a smart move is beyond comprehension.

The smart move would have been to keep the silence.

It's beyond comprehension that anyone would care about the timing of this announcement. Even if they remained silent, the entire NFL would figure it out during the Hall of Fame game.

If Callahan is in the booth and Garrett is the guy with the clip board and headphone how are you going to know?

The timing of this announcement is of little importance.. the best thing to do would have been to never announce it, period. Like JG said, there's nothing to be gained from announcing who will call plays. All it does is allows the media to stir up more drama all year long and puts unneeded tension and pressure on the team to perform. Like i said in the other thread, the only people who benefit from this announcement are the media and the fans.. neither of which matter one bit when it comes to winning football games.

With you on this one. We've been hearing how The Cowboys want to copy New England's 2 TE personnel packages. Maybe start with copying them on putting a football guy in charge of Football Ops, and having an owner who keeps his mouth shut.

No doubt.

In the PC, Garrett said that they try to figure out who the play caller is and research them to get a feel for them tendency wise.

Sigh....

Is this really information that should be coming from Jerry?

He's like the uncool kid that tags along with the popular athletes by offering to pay for everything.

LOL that guy was GREAT!!! I wonder what he's up to nowadays!!

I hate Jerry as a GM as much as the next guy, but as GM, it is absolutely his right and responsibility to demote and reappropriate duties as needed. I see no reason why people are so up in arms about him announcing this. If anything, Garrett needs to swallow the pill, admit it and move on.

I think a majority of people have no problem with Jerry making this move.
Its HOW he did it thats the problem.
