Clarence Hill ‏@clarencehilljr 40m The entire starting dline sidelined today. Hatcher, ware, ratliff and spencer.

The who's who list of non participants today: romo, ware, spencer, austin, Allen, ratliff. Yes that's the list

Jerry jones said tony romo will likely miss minicamp next week

Jerry jones says Callahan will be play caller. Decision made weeks ago, per jones

Jon Machota ‏@jonmachota 53m
Jerry Jones just arrived, could be talking to Tom Ciskowski about the draft board being leaked. pic.twitter.com/eOWus0GzJ4

Miles Austin not participating in today's OTAs so Baylor rookie WR Terrance Williams taking his spot with the Cowboys' first team offense.

No member of the Cowboys starting defensive line (Ratliff, Hatcher, Ware and Spencer) is participating in 11-on-11 drills in today's OTAs.

Jerry Jones: Play-caller was "decided weeks ago." Suggested that it will be Bill Callahan.

Jerry Jones: Tony Romo "is coming along great," but it's "probably unlikely" that he'll participate in mini camp.

Practice is underway. Jason Garrett throws drills for the defense as they work on pass drops. pic.twitter.com/R0fGhy07Or

There will be no special teams work today because Rich Bisaccia is away for his son's graduation.

Been told that Austin is not practicing because they are giving him a day off. #Rest.

I have yet to see where they are planning to line up Hargrove but he has been standing behind the DEs.

When Carr can play press hes one of the best. No separation against Bryant on fade. Would have had to be perfect throw.

Have watched Mo couple times in camp where he hasn't got his eyes around quick enough. When ball has gone to outside.

Anthony Hargrove is working with the defensive line. Coaches and trainers feel he is in good enough shape to practice.

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez 46m
What a day for OTA. Maybe 80. This is as hot as it gets in Oxnard. It's an Oxnard day.

Keary and Arkin get the 1 reps for Livings and bernadeau in 11 on 11 goal line.

Mcsurdy got a pass thrown to him. Lined up as third te right siide. Couldn't handle low throw from orton.

At least I thinl that's what happened. Mcsurdy might have just been making a great play on the ball lol. But no white shirt out there.

Parnell and McCray are straight rehabbing. Not in jerseys.

Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman 44m
Not sure it's a full time switch but Caleb mcsurdy is working some at fullback in goal line drills

@KavnerDC

Looks like Ratliff, Hatcher, Austin, Allen and Malik James all w/out helmets working on sideline away from individual drills

Durant back on the field today. Team working on goal line drills now.

Cowboys reallllly switching up the FB near the goal line. McSurdy, Kowalski and Rosario all got time

Spencer walking out now without jersey or helmet pic.twitter.com/ZxzsCzV91J

Parnell and McCray off on side working with resistance cords pic.twitter.com/AWLsl9kqSc

Beasley with another grab. He seems to do that a lot.

@RainerSabinDMN Mack Bernadeau is onfield in a helmet but Nate Livings hasn't been spotted. Livings appeared to hurt his knee last week.

@toddarcher Terrance Williams taking the first team work with Austin not practicing

Calvin Watkins ‏@calvinwatkins 42m
Getting a little physical here at OTAs Tyrone Crawford pops DeMarco Murray.

With Callahan giving the play calls & Garrett standing behind the huddle is interesting. Wonder if Garrett will tell us it's official.

During 7-on-7 wade Wilson gives the playcall while Callahan is working with the oline on another field.

Miles Austin is not injured- just out for rest #OTALive

Great to hear verification that Callahan will be the play caller. Big fan of that move.

Jerry jones says Callahan will be play caller. Decision made weeks ago, per jones

Guess they finally "worked through the mechanics" on that. :laugh2:

I wonder if he will be calling Garrett's offense, or his own?

Clarence Hill ‏@clarencehilljr 4m Bill Callahan reluctantly confirms new role as player caller. Wanted to defer to jason Garrett before told Jerry jones let cat out of bag.

Callahan said he honored and flattered to take on responsibilities of calling plays. Gave jason Garrett credit for trusting him

Todd Archer ‏@toddarcher 1m
Bill Callahan is calling plays for the Cowboys. Said he's honored to have role but will be a collaborative effort

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez 1m
Doug Free talked to reporters. Said he's happy. 'Both sides got what they wanted.'

Saw this on Twitter later

Christopher Harris ‏@CHarrisESPN 38s
Begs the question: is Garrett only there to mess up timeouts? MT "@clarencehilljr J.Jones says Callahan will be play caller (not Garrett)."

Media is going on right now about how Jerry just undercut Jason bigtime by telling them Callahan is calling the plays.

I actually agree with them.

They could've made it somewhat look like Garrett's decision but now all hope is lost.

Broaddus said he planned to ask that question...

Garret: playcaller has not been decided... stacking....playcaller has not been decided....process....playcaller has not been decided... stacking....playcaller has not been decided...

Jerry: playcaller is callahan, this was decided weeks ago

I am actually in favor of the Capuchkin monkey option in another thread.

Hope so, but doubt he will get a clear answer. JJ just created more drama.

Sigh....

Is this really information that should be coming from Jerry?

He's like the uncool kid that tags along with the popular athletes by offering to pay for everything.

I think Garrett could have prevented all this by admitting it weeks ago instead of going with all the cloak and dagger and vague cliches about not deciding yet.

Agreed. If the decision was already made, what's the point of not saying so?

yep,i really thought Callahan was going to be the playcaller after the season ended anyway.

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez 2m Garrett won't confirm playcaller. Says there is a plan in place. Competitive advantage reasons. There you go.

Finally Garrett explains why he held back on announcing. Perfectly reasonable. Could have said that in January in Mobile. Boom. Done.

Clarence Hill ‏@clarencehilljr 2m
Jason Garrett refuses to acknowledge bill Callahan as play caller. Typical cowboys

Jon Machota ‏@jonmachota 2m
Not much from Jason Garrett on play-calling: "We have a plan," he said. "We've had a plan in place for long time." (That's about it)

Jason Garrett: I'm completely on board with every decision the Dallas Cowboys make. "It's always been a collaborative effort."

WFAA Sports ‏@wfaasports 1m
After both Jerry Jones and Callahan confirmeCallhan will be the Cowboys offensive play-caller, Jason Garrett refuses to comment. #cowboys

Or you can be this negative..lol..Dear Lord

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/262803/Jerry-confirms-Jason-Garrett-won't-call-plays?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones finally confirmed Tuesday that he's stripped coach Jason Garrett of play-calling duties, and that OC Bill Callahan will call plays this season.
Having stripped Garrett of basically all his power, it's unclear why Jones is even keeping his formerly hand-picked coach around. After mostly resisting interfering during the Bill Parcells years, Jones has become more meddlesome than ever as he goes on 71 years of age. It's made for a nonsensical power structure in Big D, and is steadily eroding the Cowboys' chances of being annual contenders in the rugged NFC East. Jones could reduce the negative effects of his wanton interference if he stopped overpaying for mediocre in-house talent.

See now all this playcaller stuff is just distracting and ridiculous. There is an obvious disconnect between Jerry and Garrett. Maybe Garrett wanted to keep the secrecy for a competitive edge heading into the season with teams preparing for elements of his offense instead of Callahans. Then you have Jerry just running his mouth on things he really shouldn't. I don't mind him being hands on but why does he have to put his head coach in a tough spot like he has done to Garrett?
