Ya,as I faintly recollect, this narrative (of speculative conjecture) has been weakly pushed in a lame& squeaky voiced fashion ,somewhat akin to that voice of dude in the black&white original movie of "the fly" towards the endingWasn't there rumors back around the playoffs/shortly after he could holdout this offseason?
Did anyone dismiss it?
Welcome to the off season. Training camp starts soon. Please quit believing and repeating rumors that have no supporting evidence.
The National Media loves to attach the Cowboys to stories as click-bait.
The fact that other media jump on the same rumor to discuss it, does NOT make the rumor valid.
The internet and social media can make it appear that a rumor has multiple sources confirming it;
however, most often a rumor has 1 source and many people just repeat it including other media.
There are many sports websites that literally just repeat news from other sources.
Sometimes they give credit to the original source but often they don't.
We've seen many times that a National Media source has an article "Calvin Hill of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports..."
Often it was just an Opinion by Calving Hill but they present it as if it's fact.
If Zeke is really going to hold-out, somebody in the local DFW media will find out and comment about it. At that point it might be worth discussing; however, the National Media reports literally mean nothing.
The local reporters need to maintain a level of professionalism because they must have some amount of access to the local teams they cover in order to do their jobs.
The National Media often has no downside to telling completely fabricated stories.
National media rumors are true way more often than you’re giving them credit for. The ‘sources’ these guys have that local people don’t are the agents of the players. I guarantee that’s Adam Shefter’s entire Rolodex, how he gets the info on these contracts seemingly before the nfl itself does.
On top of that, if this was blatantly false, Zeke’s agent would have squashed it IMMEDIATELY. His reputation is on the line with every single article written about Zeke’s contract. They’ve been quiet because whatever they want to say is already out there.
And now on to something completely different,,, Man, I'd finally answered this 1-844 united states phone number about an hour ago, that's repeatedly been calling, it was "claimed" to be from the Social Security Administration informing me,"that my SS# has hereby been suspended due to suspicious activity",,, &,,,that If I was of concernment regarding this necessary maneuver by the S.S.A. I was instructed to press the #1 icon to review the reasonings of their deemed actions,,,needless to say, I was all over that prompted request thru the sheer blazing speed of my utter& complete silence & non activity,,, till it kinda' freaked out the requesting party to self terminate their little " yo, just so you know" phone call,,,SHEESE! when the MAROONS of the world actually start believing that they ain't the MAROONS but think others really are the TRUE MAROONS , the WORLD has broached gate crashing entry speed to Hell itself
Unfortunately Fish went tabloid after he purchased that website.I'm pretty sure fish has agreed that an Elliott hold out is possible
I haven't looked closely myself but in the threads here, no one has seemingly linked to quotes or comment from Zeke, his agent or anyone close to Elliott that strongly denies the allegations made in a variety of national articles. In fairness, I could have missed them.
But if there has been no push back (and isn't one as these stories churn), it can't be a great sign. But again, maybe Zeke and his camp just want the threat out there and they have no intention of actually not showing up for camp by the date they need to in order to accrue a season.
Did anyone dismiss it?
The agent does not benefit from "squashing" the rumor.
That does not make it true.
You probably don't know much about the local Dallas media if you don't live here
The local sports radio stations each are each owned by companies that have stations across the country.
The people they interview that they know personally is an impressive list.
They've had many agents on air and the 105.3 guys in particular go out of their way to treat those types of people with respect even when asking them difficult questions.
Sports and Sports Media is a big time business in Dallas. Some of the Radio Hosts make big money. More than many "National" media people from my understanding.
The Dallas area Sports Talk Radio stations do NOT operate like tabloid media the way the Philly stations operate with knuckleheads like Howard Eskin.
Back when he covered the draft local reporter Rick Gosselin knew all of the GMs and owners. He probably got treated with respect because he is on the Hall of Fame voting committee.
Actually only about 10% of the media.Sports media has been taken over by the same philosophy as 98% of the rest of the media
Create a false narrative and report on it as fact.
This^^^^^^Nice thread. The media knows that fans/readers/listeners are eager to latch onto any story that fits with or promotes their personal beliefs, and that many fans won't bother with trying to understand if there is any foundation for the story. It is a formula that works for the media, and will continue to work as long as fans/readers/listeners are willing to accept what suits them without questioning it.
The thing I find funny is that fans are quick to recognize baseless or false media reports when the story is contrary to what they want to believe, but they seem utterly unable to recognize the same thing when the story supports what they want to believe.
If we only want the facts then we really have no business on Social Media. We should just follow the ticker tape at the bottom of the screen on news and sports channels.
The rest is all opinions and narratives spun from interpretations of the facts and events.
Amazing how some want to dispute anything that doesn’t align with their beliefs.
ThanksI always look forwards to your posts.
You have a talent for prose that I envy.
Yep, basically since we went to a 24/7 news service with ESPN and CNN it’s become this. In the old days if you wanted to seek out opinions you had to read books, newspapers and magazines or listen to the radio. Or the analysts broadcasting games. The key is simply recognizing the difference between fact and opinion and rumor and even pure speculation. And, of course, recognizing media sensationalism. We've all seen stories thrown out by the media to drawn in the public that never grew any legs and just died out. The media doesn't care because it served their purpose of sucking in the public.
Elliott himself. There's no talk from the staff about contract extension with regard to Elliott, unlike Prescott. So, if he's not planning to hold out like the rumors suggest, then I would simply state that it's not true if it's not. Pretty easy. And if he chooses to remain silent and holds out, I lose a little respect for him.Who could do that?
It does not hurt the agent. It helps him if anything.
The team can't speak for Zeke.
Zeke won't be in front of cameras/microphones until training camp.
