Nah, I fractured my ankle and leg and it cost me less than $2k for the emergency room visit, and all the followup visits with an Orthopedic doctor.

Everyone gives you huge discounts for paying cash as well.

The sad part is, a female friend of mine who had insurance and fractured her leg ended up paying around $2500 for similar care because of her deductibles and the markup on everything when you use insurance.

A tumble down the stairs can end up much worse than a broken leg though, especially for us older folks.
